Preview of ‘Sugar & Vice: A Hannah Swensen Mystery’

“Sugar & Vice” follows Hannah after she finds a body at the grand re-opening of the Lake Eden Inn. When a storm traps everyone inside, Hannah must find the culprit before the road clears and the killer escapes.

Why Webster Replaced Cameron Mathison’s Character

Webster joined the “Hannah Swensen” series back in 2024, debuting as by-the-books prosecuting attorney Chad. He first appeared opposite Sweeney in the installment “One Bad Apple: A Hannah Swensen Mystery,” which premiered in April 2024, replacing Cameron Mathison as the main love interest. The pair’s subsequent films leading up to “Sugar & Vice” include “A Sprinkle of Deceit,” “Reality Bites,” and “Pie to Die For.”

In a March 2024 interview with TVLine, Sweeney was asked, “what were the on-and-off-camera reasons why Cameron Mathison’s Mike isn’t in the story anymore? Did I hear that Mike has left for FBI training in Quantico?”

“Yes. That was the decision we made for Mike, because I come from a [daytime] soaps background and I love the philosophy of “never say never,” so you never know where Mike will turn up next,” Sweeney told the outlet at the time. “I love Cameron and I wish him all the best, but he decided to pursue a different career path [signing a multi-picture deal with Hallmark rival Great American Media], so here we are.”
