Ben and Erin Napier are officially in their second year of homeschooling their daughters. The HGTV stars shared a peek at their homeschool life — and Erin wasn’t about to let a few critics question the family’s choice.
Erin Napier Defends Family’s Homeschool Decision
On September 9, Erin took to Instagram to share a look at her husband teaching their youngest daughter.
“Imagine having the best elementary history, Bible, math and poetry teacher ever who tells you stories about the world that make you want to go see them in real life while you listen to spaghetti western soundtracks and that’s homeschool with @scotsman.co,” she wrote in the caption.
There were a few critics in the comments section, but Erin stepped in to defend the decision that’s working for their family.
“The concept is wonderful, but they really need to experience the real world, getting along with others, laughing and learning with others. Dealing with the real world,” one follower wrote.
Erin responded, “Is everyone in the real world the exact same age, in one place together every day? No. Our kids interact with all ages every day in sports, art classes, dance classes, field trips, coming on set with us, and working together to do their chores every day. I know it’s what is familiar to you, but it is absolutely not the only way.”
She also noted, “My social skills had to be learned sitting still in a room with people my age, many who had extremely limited or poor parenting at home, in my most formative and vulnerable years. I thank God my parents were so influential on me!”
Fans Share Words of Support for the Napiers
Erin also received plenty of support from fans who feel the Napiers are making a great schooling choice.
“Trust the parents. They are getting enough of the ‘real world’ and probably more ‘socialization’ than in school kids,” one fan wrote.

It’s not for everyone, but for those who can, the rewards are endless!” another fan shared. “They have more opportunities for socialization, the arts, sports, and down time than most kids in public education.
