HGTV’s Jasmine Roth Opens Up About Feeling ‘Completely Overwhelmed’ During Huge Project

Jasmine Roth is sharing how she felt in over her head while working on an ambitious project recently. The HGTV star opened up about how it didn’t come at the best time, but she was determined to rise to the challenge.

Jasmine Roth Admits She was ‘Completely Overwhelmed’

On April 28, Roth took to Instagram to give more insight into her recent home build. It was a big undertaking and, it turns out, there were moments she felt like maybe she took on too much.

“I had no idea what I was signing up for,” she noted. “If you’ve ever bitten off more than you can chew and felt completely overwhelmed — this post is for you.”

Through a series of photos, Roth explained the scope of the project.

“First a little backstory,” she wrote. “See that empty piece of land between those two houses? It came on the market and we had it under contract within 6 hours.”

“I know it sounds like a quick decision, and it sorta was, but we’d been looking in this Utah neighborhood for years,” she noted. “That said, it was a BIG purchase and an investment that I knew needed to pay off.”

She continued, “After a year of planning, I broke ground on my first new construction project in Park City, UT. It was exciting, but also nerve wracking.”

Roth noted that she started building the home before her family moved to Utah. “If you’ve been around for a while you know I love big projects, but managing a project from another state is always added stress,” she shared.

She had a lot of things to juggle — “raising our daughter, filming my show on HGTV, and now I was also taking on one of the biggest projects I’ve ever done.”

But there was one other thing! Roth shared that she found out she was pregnant with their second child and they decided to move to Utah.

“With all of these big changes and decisions, this project now felt completely overwhelming,” the HGTV star wrote.

“It’s not that I regretted taking the project on, but it felt like the last thing on my list and I knew ot needed more attention,” she continued. “I saw that I had a choice … I could give in and let the project get away from me or I could dig in and figure out how to get it done.”

Roth shared her decision to move forward and reach out to get the support she needed to “keep this project on track.”

She explained, “It was humbling to admit I couldn’t keep up. It was hard to ask for help. It wasn’t what I wanted to do but I knew it was the right thing.”

HGTV Star Found the Project an ‘Eye Opening’ Experience

Roth said that getting the help, while hard, “was the best decision I could have made.”

“I started to feel less despair and to enjoy the project again, even though I’d taken on a different role than I’d anticipated,” the HGTV star noted.

She found the project “eye opening,” explaining, “I’m always thinking about things I hope my girls will grow up to be and ‘resourceful’ is high on the list.”

Roth shared, “So just a reminder if you’re in over your head in a project right now, there’s no shame in admitting it. Let the ‘I told you so’ people chirp away and just smile while they have their moment. Then ask them to help!”

“And remember that strength is learned,” she added. “It’s built when we challenge ourselves. If you’re dragging your feet because you’re too nervous to get started, don’t be deterred! Make a plan, get going, and know that it’s ok if the plan changes along the way.”

She noted, “Because what was once a plan, can become something beautiful!”

Fans lit up the comments section to share how much they appreciated Roth’s vulnerable post.

“One of the hardest things to do is to ask for help,” one fan wrote. “Your daughters have a strong mother to look up to!”
