Joanna Gaines Takes a Starring Role for Her Own Fixer Upper

Joanna Gaines is telling Chip to shove offโ€ฆ at least for a little while.

Although the couple hosts the long-running โ€œFixer Upperโ€ as well as a number of spin offs including ones subtitled โ€œThe Hotel,โ€ โ€œWelcome Homeโ€ and โ€œThe Lakehouse,โ€ this new show will be hyper focused on much smaller projects.

The famed host is setting up her own renovation project for Magnolia Networkโ€™s โ€œMini Reni.โ€

Property Sister

Variety dropped the news that this new show will follow Gaines as she โ€œtakes on a series of โ€˜miniโ€™ projects with quick timelines. In each episode, she makes a few intentional, creative additions to transform smaller spaces with big impact.โ€

In a statement to Variety, Gaines says โ€œMini Reniโ€ allows for unwavering freedom in more focused spaces.

โ€œThese arenโ€™t whole-house renovations, so the heart behind the show is to inspire people to design their home gradually, and thoughtfully,โ€ she tells the outlet. โ€œSo that instead of having to wrap your mind around the million details that go into a bigger renovation, you can enjoy the process of creating beauty by narrowing in, flexing your creativity, and embracing the small details that really tell your story.โ€

Whether the show aims to renovate just rooms or feature smaller DIY projects remains to be seen. Itโ€™s also unknown who the projects will be for in the storyline of the show itself.

Room Hunter

This isnโ€™t the first time Gaines has gone solo. The host also heads a cooking series called โ€œMagnolia Table.โ€ She also cohosts โ€œThe Retro Plant Shop with Mikey & Joโ€ with Mikey McCall.

Gaines also has eight books available for purchase. Fans can check out two memoirs, three volumes of cookbooks, an interior design book and two children books.

Allison Page, the Magnolia Network president, is excited for the new showโ€™s distinct approach.

โ€œTo us, โ€˜Mini Reniโ€™ is a celebration of Magnolia Network and the platform it has been for so much creativity,โ€ Page says. โ€œViewers are going to love seeing this side of Joanna, and I canโ€™t wait to share this special project.โ€

The show is produced by the Gaines couple via their company Blind Nil.

โ€œMini Reniโ€ is set to land on Max on May 14. Meanwhile, linear TV viewers can catch the series on the Magnolia Network. New episodes of the nine episode season will premiere weekly on Wednesdays at 8 PM through July 9.
