Oren Peli’s “Paranormal Activity” blew horror audiences away when it released.
Produced on a budget of just $15,000, it grossed a massive $193.4 million worldwide (per Box Office Mojo), making it a hugely profitable venture.
It starred Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat playing fictionalized versions of themselves.
Per IMDb, the plot is as follows: “After moving into a suburban home, a couple becomes increasingly disturbed by a nightly demonic presence.”
Filmed in the found footage style, it was also a huge critical hit, and currently boasts an impressive 82% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
While Featherston and Sloat are both instantly recognizable to horror fans, neither have gone on to have prolific acting careers. Featherston does have a handful of additional credits, but Sloat has none beyond the “Paranormal Activity” franchise.
While the film was first shown at Screamfest on October 14, 2007, it officially released in the United States on September 25, 2009.

All in all, there have been seven movies in the franchise to date, with the most recent one being 2021’s “Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin.” Although another is expected to release in 2027, neither Featherston or Sloat are expected to appear in it.
It’s fantastic to see both Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat looking so well in 2026. We have to wonder if they will ever appear in another “Paranormal Activity” movie. We certainly hope so and wish them well with their respective lives.
