Glenn Close has no patience for strangers reducing her costar and friend Kim Kardashian to a punch line. The eight-time Oscar nominee, 79, defended her All’s Fair costar after an Instagram commenter criticized Close for working with Kardashian, 45. The exchange appeared beneath photos Close shared Sunday, August 23, from the set of the Hulu drama’s second season
Why Did Glenn Close Defend Kim Kardashian?
Close’s post included Kardashian and her boyfriend, seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton, during his visit to the production. One commenter wrote that they felt sorry Close had to “deal with” Kardashian.
“Whatever your opinion of Kim is, I want you to know she is a KIND, funny, steady, smart powerhouse of a woman and mother,” Close wrote.
Close then made their personal connection clear. “She is my friend,” she added.
What Did Glenn Close Share From the ‘All’s Fair’ Set?
Close initially posted the photos to celebrate meeting Hamilton, who visited Kardashian during production.
“Sir Lewis came by our All’s Fair location. I LOVED meeting him. What a sweet, classy gentleman he is. Thank you, Kim, for bringing him by,” Close wrote.
Season 2 is now in production after Hulu renewed the Ryan Murphy legal drama in November 2025. Kardashian stars as divorce attorney Allura Grant, while Close plays veteran lawyer Dina Standish.
The ensemble also includes Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash-Betts, Sarah Paulson, Teyana Taylor and Judith Light. The first season followed attorneys handling explosive divorce cases and personal betrayals inside their female-led firm.
Why Did Hulu Renew ‘All’s Fair’ for Season 2?
The renewal arrived despite brutal reviews for the show’s first three episodes and criticism of Kardashian’s performance. Viewers, however, showed up.
Deadline reported in December 2025 that Hulu called All’s Fair its biggest original scripted series premiere in three years based on its first three days of streaming.
The show debuted at No. 1 on the Hulu Top 15 Today list and remained on the chart daily through the renewal announcement.
Hulu also said the series had generated more than 10 billion social impressions before the Season 1 finale, according to The Wrap. Those numbers gave the drama a path forward even as critics continued debating its writing and performances.
How Did Kim Kardashian Handle the ‘All’s Fair’ Backlash?
HuluKardashian acknowledged the pressure of moving from reality television into a scripted lead role during an episode of The Kardashians.
“It is crazy that this journey is over. Here’s the thing with these shows: It is not guaranteed that it’s gonna be a hit,” she said. “So you put your heart and soul and your time into something, and it’s like, ‘What if it doesn’t hit?’ Then what was this for?”
A source previously told Us Weekly that Kardashian joked the negative attention was drawing more viewers to the series.
Kardashian previously worked with Murphy on American Horror Story: Delicate. Close’s defense now shows that regardless of the reviews, Kardashian has earned the respect of one of Hollywood’s most celebrated actors.
