During his Grammy performance on Sunday, February 1, Best New Artist nominee Alex Warren visibly struggled mid-performance before pulling out his in-ear device. The next day, the “Ordinary” singer spoke out about what caused the trouble, explaining that an audio malfunction was to blame.
The 25-year-old captioned a TikTok clip that played a layered version of his hit single, “When you’re performing at the Grammys, and all you hear is this in your ears.” He wrote alongside the video, “This would only happen to me.”
Several public figures reached out in the comments to comfort the novice pop star. YouTuber Trisha Paytas wrote, “You actually crushed it tho!!!” and country music artist Tayler Holder chimed in to say, “You handled it so well and pulled it together so fast dude! Don’t beat yourself up bubba, you sounded freaking great.”
Influencer Teala Dunn also weighed in on the situation, saying, “You did amazing!!!”

In the middle of his performance, Warren noticeably struggled to stay in synch with his music and backup singers before choosing to ditch his in-ear device. A few moments later, he put it back in, and managed to recover for a strong finish.

Warren is married to Kouvr Annon, also 25, whom he met on Snapchat in 2018, according to People. Both members of the couple were formerly a part of the TikTok influencer collective known as Hype House. After the show, Kouvr captioned a sweet snap with her husband, “I am so incredibly proud and honored to be your wife. Growing up with you and watching you become the musician that I always knew you were has been such an honor. You truly inspire me every day and constantly encourage me to be the best person that I can be. Thank you for being you. I love you so much I can’t wait to see what happens next for you and if our kids ever read this… just know your dad is a superstar.”
Warren’s fellow Best New Artist nominee, TikTok dancer turned pop musician Addison Rae, was also a member of Hype House. Commenting on a video of Rae and Warren chatting with each other at an event in late 2025, one Reddit user mused on Warren’s incredible rise. They wrote, “Alex Warren’s clickbait-y snapchat stories were frequently at the top of my discovery page for a few years and I thought of him as a wannabe David Dobrik. It’s still funny to me seeing Alex become a pretty successful pop artist and more famous than the Vlog Squad. Good for him though, wishing him nothing but success lol.”
