Queen Latifah Returns as Host

The AMAs 2026 are going to be about celebrating and blending current artists with heritage artists. It’s long been a trademark for the AMAs.

For the 2026 awards show, the AMAs will be hosted by Queen Latifah. This isn’t her first time taking the stage as host for this ceremony.

The last time she hosted the show was in 1995. At that time, she hosted the show in tandem with Tom Jones and country star Lorrie Morgan.

That mix between old and new was not just seen with the hosts that evening, but with the performances. In 1995, the performance lineup included a 10th anniversary salute to “We Are the World,” a 40th anniversary salute to Little Richard’s “Tutti Frutti” (on which the rock’n’roll legend  was joined by The Go-Go’s), a performance by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin’s 1972 classic “Black Dog” and a hip-hop imbued performance by Latifah of Rodgers & Hart’s 1937 classic “My Funny Valentine.”
