As renewed interest surrounds Michael Jackson’s legacy, many fans are taking a deeper look at the people who were part of his personal life.
One name that often comes up is Debbie Rowe—his second wife and the mother of two of his children—who has chosen a far more private path in the years since their split.
How Did Rowe and Jackson Meet
Rowe’s connection to Jackson began long before their marriage.
She worked for dermatologist Arnold Klein, who treated the singer for vitiligo, and the two formed a friendship that would eventually turn into something more.
After Jackson’s divorce from Lisa Marie Presley, the pair grew closer, with Rowe later revealing that he deeply wanted to become a father.
Wanting to help, she offered to have children with him.
They married in 1996 in Sydney, Australia, while she was pregnant with their first child.
Their son Prince was born in 1997, followed by daughter Paris in 1998.
Though their family expanded quickly, the marriage itself didn’t last long, and the couple finalized their divorce in 2000.
After the split, Rowe stepped away from public life almost entirely.
She settled in Southern California, where she focused on a quieter routine, far removed from the intense spotlight that came with being linked to one of the most famous entertainers in the world.
People previously described her as someone who preferred privacy, spending her time breeding horses and keeping a low profile.
One of the few times she reemerged publicly was in 2013, when she testified during a legal case involving Jackson’s estate, according to BBC.
During that appearance, she spoke candidly about aspects of his health, saying, “Unfortunately, some of the doctors decided that when Michael was in pain, they would try to see who could give him the best painkiller.”
Paris and Rowe Now Have a Relationship
While Rowe initially gave up custody of her children following the divorce, her relationship with her daughter, Paris Jackson, evolved over time.
After years of distance, the two began reconnecting when Paris was a teenager.
At the time, sources indicated that Paris had reached out, hoping to build a bond, and that effort was supported by her grandmother, Katherine Jackson.
Since then, their relationship appears to have strengthened.
In 2017 per E! News, Paris publicly celebrated her mother’s resilience after she completed chemotherapy for breast cancer.
Sharing a photo of the milestone moment, she wrote, “My badass mom, kickin butt n takin names. Ain’t she f—in fabulous.”
More recently, Paris has continued to give small glimpses into their connection.
In a February social media post, she shared photos of herself with Rowe, the two smiling together and looking relaxed.
Captioned “Lately ❤️,” the images suggested a steady, ongoing bond between mother and daughter.
Today, Rowe continues to live largely outside the public eye.
While her past relationship with Jackson remains a point of curiosity, her life now reflects a conscious choice to stay private—focused less on fame and more on personal peace, family, and the connections she has rebuilt along the way.
