Simpson Bravely Opens Up

Addressing the audience, Simpson revealed that she eventually realized alcohol was doing more harm than good in her life.

“I realized that the drinking wasn’t numbing my pain,” Simpson told the crowd. “It was actually causing more pain.”

The heartfelt moment came as Simpson prepared to perform the deeply personal song, which reflects themes of healing, self-discovery and letting go of emotional burdens.

Before beginning the performance, she described herself as “a work in progress” and shared how proud she is of the progress she has made over the years.

“I celebrate each and every day that I feel alive and in my body, and I’m very proud of myself,” she said. “It felt right to share this song with you.”

Simpson also offered words of encouragement to those who may be facing their own struggles.

“I want all of you to know that you should have a little grace for yourself, and everything is gonna be OK if you just give it all away, and that’s what this song is about,” she added.

The performance is the latest chapter in Simpson’s long-running commitment to living alcohol-free.

Simpson Has Been Open About Her Sobriety

The star has been open about her sobriety journey for years after making the decision to stop drinking in 2017.

Since then, she has frequently spoken about the positive impact the choice has had on her life, career and mental well-being.

Fans have praised her honesty, particularly as she has used her platform to discuss both the challenges and rewards that come with recovery.

In November 2025, Simpson celebrated eight years of sobriety and marked the milestone with a powerful reflection on social media.

“8 years ago today I made the choice to confront, to confess and to let go of the self sabotaging parts of my life that I was choosing,” she wrote at the time.

She continued, “Making that decision allowed me to fully live in the pursuit of Gods purpose for my life. Alcohol silenced my intuition, blocked my dreams and chased my circulating fears of complacency.”

The singer went on to explain that her faith has become a guiding force in her life.

“Today I am clear. Today I am driven by faith,” Simpson wrote. “Both fear and faith are something that we feel and may not see, I’m so happy I chose faith over fear. It was not in the fight that I found my strength, it was in the surrender.”

With “Give It All Away,” Simpson appears to be channeling those hard-earned lessons into her music, offering fans a glimpse into the personal journey that continues to shape her life today.
