Mick Jagger continues to defy Father Time, judging by his latest social media post.
Per that post, the Rolling Stones frontman — who turned 83 in July — is celebrating the summer like a man a third of his age.
‘Mr. Charm’
In the post, Jagger shares a video of himself dancing up a storm in a nightclub, a glittering disco ball hanging overhead.
The song that’s got him so fired up on the dance floor? Why, one of his own, of course, the disco-inspired single “Mr. Charm” off the Stones’ new “Foreign Tongues” album.
“Enjoying the summer, hope you are too,” Jagger writes in the caption.
Still Rolling
The Stones’ latest album recently hit No. 1 on the U.K. album charts — the band’s 15th album to hold that distinction.
Even more impressively, “Foreign Tongues” arrives less than three years after their critically acclaimed 2023 album “Hackney Diamonds,” which represented the band’s first original music in nearly 20 years.
He’s Been ‘Very Prolific’
In a recent interview with The Guardian, Jagger’s musical partner of six decades Keith Richards credited the singer for the band’s impressive musical output in recent years.
“Mick’s been very prolific lately, which is one reason this album has come out so quick, because he won’t bloody stop,” Richards told the newspaper.
“And the momentum from ‘Hackney Diamonds’ was such that this is basically carrying on in the same breath,” Richards added. “I was just letting it roll — we had enough stuff if we wanted to keep pushing, and so Mick and I gave each other the usual wry look and said: ‘Yeah, let’s keep pushing.’”
Like its predecessor “Hackney Diamonds,” “Foreign Tongues” was produced by Andrew Watt, who’s produced who’s critically acclaimed albums from veteran rockers such as Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop and Paul McCartney.
‘Nothing Good’ About Getting Old
In a recent interview with The New York Times, Jagger was asked to share what he felt to be the best thing about getting older.
“There’s nothing good about it,” he said.
“Wisdom? I forgot all my wisdom. I might have had a couple of pearls drop, but I’ve already forgotten what they are,” he quipped with a laugh.
“So no, it’s not particularly pleasant,” Jagger added. “You can’t do things as quickly as you want to. Physically you’ve got to be more careful. You know, when you’re playing football, they put you in goal a lot. I’m not very good at it!”
His Final Stones Show?
While both Jagger and Richards have publicly left the door open for another tour next year, there’s also been talk of doing Vegas-style residencies instead, so fans can come to them instead of the Stones taking their massive show on the road.
Asked whether he’d ever contemplated playing his final show with the band, he said, “Maybe I have! I could get run over by a bus outside of my house. You never really know, do you? You don’t know what’s going to happen to you in life. But I personally hope to be able to tour. I like going places. I like meeting people. I like to go to weird countries to do shows. I did a show in Indonesia once on my own, which was so crazy. It was so hot. It was unbelievable. I was out there and it was daytime, there weren’t any lights, and I thought, What am I going to wear?”
