Paris Jackson shared new information regarding her relationship with her mother, Debbie Rowe, during an appearance on the Wednesday, August 12, episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. The two didn’t meet until Paris was a teenager.
“I remember, you know, kind of asking about it when I was probably around, like, 10 or 11, and the answers I got were, you know, sufficient to me,” Paris explained. “Just like, ‘Oh, what’s her name?’ I got told her name and I’m like, ‘All right, cool,’ like, [I] moved on.”
“We connected when I was about 15 and then really started getting closer towards the end of my teen years and things like that,” she added. “I remember coming downstairs and she was in the living room with my grandma. I came in and I was just like, ‘Hey, mom.’ And she was like, ‘Hi.’ I sat down, we talked for a second, and then we went out for the day and just hung out. She’s a [Sagittarius], so she’s got the fire, and I’m an Aries, so I got the fire. We’re very similar.”
Paris’ father is the legendary musician Michael Jackson, who died in 2009 at age 50. She was 11 at the time of his passing, which led to her and her siblings moving in with their grandmother.

Rowe and Michael Jackson married in 1996, having met while she was working as an assistant at Jackson’s dermatology office. The two welcomed their son Prince in 1997 and their daughter Paris in 1998. But when they divorced in 2000, Rowe gave the singer full custody rights.
Until the time Paris was 15, the two had very minimal contact, but they began to reconcile and have now formed a beautiful relationship.

During the appearance, Paris also went into detail about what it was like to grow up with her father being one of the biggest stars in the world.
“I knew he was famous. I just didn’t know how famous,” she explained. “There was definitely part of me that, like, when I looked out my hotel window — and it was one of the times where, like, the alias didn’t work — and there’s just a sea of people with signs and stuff. I’m not so naive to think, ‘Yeah, everyone experiences this.’ I just didn’t understand the lengths.”
Paris added that while she “didn’t grow up” at Michael’s Neverland Ranch amusement park,” she did spend “the first few years of [her] life” there. But, it was made “very, very clear that all of the attractions there were not for us.”
“That was for underprivileged children and children that were terminally ill that couldn’t go to like Disneyland,” Paris explained.
Jackson was known for shielding his family from the spotlight, going as far as to make them wear face masks in public so they wouldn’t be recognized.
“I mean, it made sense because it was like, ‘Oh yeah, if you do this now, then you can go to Chuck-E-Cheese and be normal this weekend because no one will know who you are,’” Paris stated. “That made sense to me.”
