GettyWith Super Bowl LX in arm’s reach, many fans are just as excited for the live music as they are to watch the New England Patriots face off against the Seattle Seahawks. While news of Latin rapper and singer Bad Bunny performing during the halftime show has everyone talking, the other musical acts are impressive as well, including Brandi Carlile.
Carlile is well known to fans across musical genres. She has the rare ability to move effortlessly between country, Americana, folk rock, and pop rock, with hints of the blues. She’ll be singing “America the Beautiful,” a song Carlile has said she is proud to sing.
Brandi Carlile on ‘America the Beautiful’: More Prayer Than Boast
Carlile released her debut album, the eponymous “Brandi Carlile,” in 2005. In October 2025, she released her eighth studio album, “Returning to Myself.” In April, she also released a collaboration with Elton John, titled “Who Believes in Angels?”
Carlile has been nominated for 28 Grammy Awards and has won 11. While speaking with Apple Music, she called singing “America the Beautiful” a “high honor.”
“I encourage everyone to go find the full version of ‘America the Beautiful,” the 44-year-old said. “The lyrics, written by this wonderful woman, Katharine Lee Bates.”
“The way I would love people to interpret the song is more of a prayer than a boast,” she continued. “This is a song about a country, a beautiful country that ebbs and flows in terms of hope. It’s a work in progress, and the song believes we can get there.
“And I believe we can get there, and for that reason, I can put my whole self into that song and believe what I’m saying,” she added. “And that’s my job on Sunday.”
Seahawks Fan Brandi Carlile Joins Star-Studded Super Bowl Lineup
Carlile joins Green Day, Charlie Puth, and Coco Jones in performing the Super Bowl pre-game songs. The response to Carlile singing “America the Beautiful” has been overwhelmingly positive.
“This is why we love Brandi – she can meet a moment with her full heart and gift us some hope,” commented one fan.
“She will crush it and millions of folks will be teary eyed watching her crush it,” wrote another.
Carlile was born in Ravensdale, Washington, so, as you can imagine, she has already decided who the game’s winner will be. On Jan. 25, she posted a photo of herself and her wife kissing, captioned, “Seattle is for lovers.”
