‘Love on the Spectrum’ Fan-Favorite Couple Breaks Up After 5 Years

Fan favorites from Netflix’s “Love on the Spectrum,” Abbey Romeo, 27, and David Isaacman, 31, decided to part ways after five years of dating.

News of their split comes just days after season 4 premiered on April 1, where Abbey and David spent the last episode together celebrating stars Madison Marilla and Tyler White at their engagement party.

In an interview with The U.S. Sun, a source close to the former couple confirmed the pair broke up after being on different pages regarding marriage.

“Sadly it’s true that David and Abbey broke up,” the source shared. “They couldn’t come to an agreement on when to get married. She was ready years ago, he still needed time.”

A second source told the Sun that despite having a different outlook for their future, David’s heart is on the mend. “They did break up, but he is doing very well,” the insider shared.

Abbey and David met during season 1 of “Love on the Spectrum” after going on a blind date at a wildlife zoo. The former couple quickly bonded over their favorite animals and love for candied gummies.

When Abbey and David discovered their mutual interest in Africa, they and their family traveled to Kenya during season 2 so they could witness a lion in real life.

From the beginning of their romance, David often showered Abbey with heartfelt gifts — and vice versa. To remember their safari trip in Africa, David gave Abbey a gorgeous heart-shaped necklace from Tiffany & Co.

In season 3, Abbey wrote and performed the song “Forever Boyfriend” for David at a California winery. Explaining what influenced her kind gesture, Abbey shared, “I wrote this song last summer, and I wanted to do a tribute to David, because he is the best boyfriend, and I never want to lose him. My favorite part of the song is [when] I say at the beginning, ‘You’re the lion to my lioness, the milk to my Chardonnay,’ because he drinks milk and I like wine and we both love lions,” The Tab reported.

‘Love on the Spectrum’ Fans Shocked Over Abbey & David’s Breakup

In a previous interview with TODAY, David opened up about how he and Abbey forged a strong, successful romance, saying, “The secret to a great relationship is have confidence, gather your courage and be yourself and care for others too.”

After “Love on the Spectrum” fans heard of their shocking split, many gathered online to agree on how heartbreaking their breakup is.

“This hurts more than my own breakup,” wrote one.

“but she treated him like a power ranger and he treated her like a princess 🥹,” said another.

“Cool, just rip my heart out 😫,”  added a third.

While Abbey and David’s split wasn’t included in season 4, another hopeful couple, Connor Tomlinson and Georgie Harris, also decided to call it quits, with Connor revealing their split at Madison and Tyler’s engagement party.

Hopefully “Love on the Spectrum” season 5 has more romance in store!
