‘Bridgerton’ Season 5: What the Season 4 Post-Credits Scene Reveals About What’s Next

The Ton may still be buzzing over “Bridgerton” season 4, but attention has already shifted to what comes next in season 5. Netflix renewed the series for seasons 5 and 6 in May 2025, confirming plans to continue adapting Julia Quinn’s eight-book series beyond Benedict Bridgerton’s love story.

Season 4 Part 2, now streaming, delivers a notable first for the series: a full post-credits scene that offers direct clues about season 5’s central romance.

‘Bridgerton’ Season 4 Post-Credits Scene Teases Season 5 Lead

Spoilers for “Bridgerton” season 4 episode 8, “A Dance in the Country,” follow.

The post-credits scene shows Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson, marrying Sophie Baek, portrayed by Yerin Ha, in a quiet countryside ceremony at My Cottage. Anthony Bridgerton stands as Benedict’s best man, and Sophie’s friends sit alongside Posy on the bride’s side.

The moment also sets up the next chapter. During the gathering, Kate asks, “Whose wedding do you think we will be attending next?” Eloise responds, “Oh, I do love a wedding. All the best people in the same place.” Francesca is asked if she might remarry and answers, “I have had my great love. One time is enough.”

The exchange fuels speculation about which sibling will take center stage in season 5.

Showrunner Jess Brownell confirmed the creative team has already selected the leads for seasons 5 and 6. “You’ll learn really soon [who stars in Bridgerton season 5], I would say,” Brownell told Decider. “We want to give fans a moment to really celebrate Yerin and Luke and everything they’ve put into this season, but we are starting production very soon on season 5 and we tend to make an announcement close to the start of production about who the new leads are.”

‘Bridgerton’ Season 5 Cast and Story Hints

Netflix has not announced the full cast for season 5, but the core Bridgerton family is expected to return. That includes Benedict, Eloise Bridgerton, Francesca Bridgerton and Violet Bridgerton, who have remained central throughout the series.

Speaking to Deadline in January 2026, Brownell said, “I know who the two leads are for seasons 5 and 6,” but declined to confirm which sibling headlines which season.

The series continues to draw from Quinn’s novels, even as it adjusts timelines. Eloise’s book, “To Sir Phillip, With Love,” and Francesca’s “When He Was Wicked” are widely viewed as likely source material for upcoming seasons.

Executive producer Shonda Rhimes confirmed development is underway.

“The writers are in the writer’s room working on that, so I know what season 5 is all about from beginning to end,” Rhimes said during an October 2025 episode of “Call Her Daddy.”

While Netflix has not announced a premiere date, previous seasons followed lengthy production timelines. With seasons 5 and 6 confirmed and writing in progress, the next chapter of “Bridgerton” is already taking shape.
