Kyle Richards wants to revisit her child-star past with a role in the new ‘Little House on the Prairie’

Kyle Richards is best known today for sharing her life on reality TV. However, decades before joining the Housewives franchise, she was already growing up in front of Cameras.

Currently, one of the shows from Richards’ childhood has found a new generation. Netflix recently brought “Little House on the Prairie” back with a new cast and a fresh adaptation of the famous story.

Richards has been watching along, but she would like to become a part of it once more.

Kyle Richards Has Already Asked for a Role on the New ‘Little House on the Prairie’

Richards did not hide her interest in returning to the world of “Little House on the Prairie.”

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly at “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th” premiere, Richards discussed the new series. She revealed that she had already asked about appearing on it.

“I would love to make an appearance,” she said. “Don’t think I didn’t ask them!”

This prospect is not without one slight complication, however. Netflix’s version of the show is not simply continuing the story told by the original series. It is a new adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books, with a new cast playing familiar characters. This means Richards cannot simply return as an older version of her original character.

Not one to back down easily, Richards said she even suggested that she could return as an entirely different character. “I can do a cameo and play someone else!” she recalled telling the show’s creatives.

For now, Richards has not announced that she’s gotten her wish, but there may still be an opportunity.

Netflix has already renewed the new adaptation for a second season. The new adaptation premiered in July with Alice Halsey playing Laura Ingalls and Luke Bracey taking over the role of Charles “Pa” Ingalls.

Little House Was One of Richards’ Earliest Acting Jobs

Richards was only about 5 years old when she began appearing on the original television series.

She played Alicia Sanderson Edwards, the adopted daughter of Isaiah and Grace Edwards. The reality star first appeared during the show’s second season and eventually appeared in 18 episodes between 1975 and 1982.

Interestingly, she even played another character during her years on the series. In Season 5, Richards appeared as Samantha Harper before later returning to her better-known role as Alicia. Her older sister Kim Richards also briefly appeared on the show as a different character.

Still, “Little House” was only one part of Richards’ busy childhood acting career. She went on to appear in several shows including “Fantasy Island”, “CHiPs” and “ER.” The former child star also appeared in the original “Halloween” movie, another role that would eventually follow her into adulthood.

Decades later, Richards reprised her role of Lindsey Wallace in the newer “Halloween” films. That experience already showed her willingness to revisit characters connected to the earliest stages of her career.

In 2010, Richards joined “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and became one of the franchise’s longest-running stars. For many fans, reality TV became more closely associated with Richards than her earlier acting career.

Watching the reboot Has Taken Kyle Richards Back to Her Childhood

Richards has already watched Netflix’s new interpretation of the movie franchise.

The experience has been particularly personal because she remembers what it felt like to work on the original set as a young child.

“It’s very nostalgic,” she said, speaking to Entertainment Weekly. “I was telling my daughters, I can’t help but walk down memory lane watching that and seeing the man who’s playing Mr. Edwards, who was my dad on the show, and everything.”

She also spoke about the little details the new show has caused her to remember, including the period clothing and shoes.

Richards may not currently have a role in Netflix’s version, but she has emphatically made her interest clear. With the show returning for a new season, there is still time for the former child star to find her way back to the prairie.
