Police & Local Reports Share Updates on Their Condition
During the struggle, the attacker knocked Nana’s mother unconscious. Both women suffered serious injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. Officers said the man, who is in his 30s, attempted to steal cash and valuables before he was detained at the scene on aggravated robbery charges.
According to the BBC, a local detective told AFP that Nana and her mother fought back long enough to keep themselves safe until the Police arrived.
South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported that Nana suffered additional injuries while trying to escape the violent confrontation. According to the outlet, “Nana also sustained physical injuries while trying to escape the dangerous situation.”
The outlet also confirmed that her mother has regained consciousness. “The mother has regained consciousness, and both of them are currently in need of treatment and complete rest,” the agency said, as reported by BBC News.
Both women are expected to remain under medical supervision while they recover.
Nana’s Rise From K-Pop Fame to International Netflix Stardom
Nana, whose real name is Im Jin-ah, first rose to fame in 2009 as a member of the K-pop girl group After School. She later performed in the sub-units Orange Caramel and After School Red. Although the group is no longer active, her career continued to evolve as she transitioned into acting.
She gained wide recognition for her roles in the 2019 dramas “Kill It” and “Justice.” In 2021, she starred in the Netflix series “Glitch,” a science fiction story centered on a young woman who teams up with a UFO enthusiast to search for her missing boyfriend.
Nana has remained a prominent figure in both music and television. She released her first solo album in September, marking a return to her musical roots.
Upcoming Roles & What Lies Ahead for the Star
Before the incident, Nana was preparing for several new projects. As per Metro, she is set to appear in the upcoming drama “Climax” and the Netflix series “Scandals,” which is based on the 2003 Korean film “Untold Scandal.” In the series, she plays Hui-yeon, a widow who vows to remain chaste after her husband’s death.
“Scandals” reimagines the classic French story “Dangerous Liaisons” and explores a complex love game between its leads. The series is expected to be released next year.
As Nana recovers from the attack, fans around the world have been sending messages of support. Many hope she and her mother heal fully and safely return to work in the months ahead.
