Demos revealed that his mother was first diagnosed with stage 4 cancer nearly 16 years ago and at the time was given just a year to live.

“The brightest and bravest soul there is,” Demos wrote, describing his mother as the clearest example of strength and joy. Alongside the message, he posted a touching photo of the two embracing.

A Lifelong Bond Between Mother & Son

In his tribute, Demos reflected on being raised by his mother as a single parent and the unshakable bond they shared. “It’s been her and I against it all and my biggest honor to be her son,” he wrote, calling Lindy not only his mom but also his “best mate and my biggest inspiration.”

The actor admitted the loss has left him feeling part of what he called a “strange club” of only children who have lost both parents. “I don’t know what life looks like without her. I don’t need answers now. What I do know is I’m not alone, I have an abundance of love and support that I truly didn’t think was possible,” he added.

Support From Friends & Gratitude to Care Team

Demos thanked the medical staff who cared for his mother, singling out the Warrigal team for their compassion during her final week in palliative care. “The kindness they showed my mum will stay with me forever,” he wrote.

He also expressed gratitude to friends and family who surrounded him with support in his grief. “They have not allowed me once to feel that I am doing this on my own. From Australia to LA etc they have shown up in a way I didn’t think was possible and I have no idea how I get through it without them.”

Among those offering condolences were Isla Fisher and Josh Lucas, who praised Lindy’s strength and spirit in their messages of support.

Fisher wrote: “This made me cry. Your mother sounds like such an incredible, strong and inspiring woman. She will always stay with you. I’m so sorry for your loss. Thinking of you and sending you so much strength ❤️”

Carrying His Mother’s Legacy Forward

Demos ended his tribute by vowing to carry his mother’s strength and outlook into the future. “Best thing I can do now is make sure I try and navigate life with the outlook and integrity she lived with, with the wonder and joy of it all and take her wherever I go,” he wrote.

For the actor, the tribute served as both a farewell and a promise to honor his mother’s legacy. “Thanks again to everyone who loved and supported my mum,” he concluded.
