Julie Newmar is beloved by fans for her iconic portrayal of Catwoman in the “Batman” television show from 1996 to 1997. Newmar is a legend in the entertainment industry and among superhero fans, and when she appeared at a recent event, fans were thrilled to see her.
Julie Newmar Makes Rare Appearance at a Convention
Newmar is now 92, having celebrated her birthday on August 16, 2025, but she looked much younger and incredibly energetic in a photo that emerged from her recent public appearance. The photo was taken at The Hollywood Show fan convention in Burbank, Los Angeles, Entertainment Weekly reports. A picture in the publication’s article shows Newmar wearing a green jersey and red lipstick as she posed for a photo.
She was praised by The Hollywood Show organizer David Elkouby, who said Newmar made a real effort at the convention. “She’s amazing,” Elkouby told Entertainment Weekly. “She didn’t stop from the beginning until the very last person. She didn’t get up from her chair. It’s really a testament to her. She was there for the fans, and this was it.”
GettyAnother photo, which was shared on Instagram on January 12, shows Newmar in the same outfit. She opens her mouth and holds up a poster of herself as Catwoman. The caption reads, “Thanks to all the wonderful people I met at Hollywood Show. Thank you everyone for being there.”
Fans Show Julie Newmar Some Love
Fans flooded the photo with reactions. “Still my crush,” a comment reads. “You look wonderful,” another fan wrote. Other reactions include, “please attend next year Julie, ill be coming from the East Coast,” “Oh how I wish i could have been there! I was just reading about it and thinking of you. I hope you enjoyed it!,” and “You’re the best, Julie!”
It is clear from the comments that Newmar is incredibly loved and celebrated for her portrayal of Catwoman. But how does she feel about the role making her an icon? This is a question that she was asked in a 2023 interview with Closer, and Newmar revealed she had no idea the role would make her so popular. But she did have a positive experience while filming.
“You have positive feelings when you are performing it,” she shared. “The people around you are supportive, and the script was wonderful. So was everything else. All the other actors — Adam West and Burt Ward were fabulous in the parts. It’s something that just comes together sometimes.”
GettyAlso, in Newmar’s interview, she revealed her favorite Catwoman. “Michelle Pfeiffer, hands down,” she said. “She can do anything. She is my favorite because she’s far and away the best actress.” Newmar also praised Pfeiffer for the “creativity” she brought to the part.
