“Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce’s condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD),” the family’s statement said.
Emma stepped fully into the role of caregiver, opening up about the grief that comes with watching her husband’s health decline. On his 68th birthday in 2023, she shared through tears, “I do have times of sadness, every day. Grief, every day. And I’m really feeling it today.”
2024 & Beyond: Choosing Love in a New Chapter
Even amid struggles, Emma has rejected headlines that suggest their life is joyless. In March 2024, she spoke directly to fans, saying, “I can just tell you, that is far from the truth… we’ve entered a new chapter filled with love, connection, joy, and happiness.”
