Rob and Michele Reiner received a very touching and special tribute at the 2026 Critics’ Choice Awards following their tragic passing on Dec. 14.
Chelsea Handler, who is hosting this year’s Critics’ Choice Awards, ended her opening remarks by sharing some sentiments about Reiner, who she referred to as “the nicest guy in Hollywood.”
“Anyone who ever spent time with Rob Reiner knows that the minute you met him, he felt like an old friend,” Handler said (via PEOPLE). “When you were in a conversation with him, he was present and he was focused and he was funny, and he would ask you tons of questions, whether you were discussing politics or film or the latest beauty trends, he was all in.”
“Rob and Michele were tireless in their efforts to so many important causes, all stemming from one basic idea: decency,” She added. “That we should all look out for each other, and I think we can all agree that we definitely need more of that. So let’s use tonight as a reminder of that decency and a reminder of everything Rob and Michele stood for.”

Rob and Michele sent holiday cards to their friends, which arrived following their murders.
“Today in the mail was a card from Michele and Rob Reiner!” Neda Soderqvist captioned her Instagram post on Monday, December 29. “Even from heaven, they are still making sure that everyone receives their bonuses and what really truly touches my soul and heart are the cards that Michele wrote me and one of the funny things about her was each time she sent me a bonus she would make me promise her that I would utilize it for myself and not give it away.”
“She knew me so well but today Michelle I promise you I’ll keep $100 and the rest I’m going to donate in your honor to one of the most inspiring foundations that I know you love thank you for being my best friend ride or die,” she continued. ” Someone who taught me self-worth self-love and I will keep your legacy going forever and I’ll give you the oath that I’ll be here for your children. #michelereiner #robreiner”
Rob and Michele Reiner’s Son Nick Reiner Set To Be Arraigned On Jan. 7
Nick Reiner is facing charges for the murder of his parents, having previously appeared in court on Dec. 17. His arraignment is scheduled to continue on Jan. 7.
Nick waived his right to enter a plea, which is why the arraignment was pushed back. The BBC reported that the only three words he said in court were “yes, your honor,” when asked about his decision not to go with the speedy trial.
