Dolly Parton’s Sister Freida Shares What Dolly Would ‘Tell Her To Do’ While She Grieves

Dolly Parton‘s sister Freida has shared a new post online, revealing the mindset she knows Dolly would want her to be in now even though she’s in the midst of grieving. The iconic singer and actress passed away at the end of August at the age of 80, following an undisclosed but brief battle with cancer.

Freida’s New Post

Frieda made a post to Facebook where she reposted an old interview on YouTube discussing her sister Dolly with Chip White on the Relatively Famous Podcast. However, penned alongside the repost Frieda made a note about “navigating life without Dolly” and what she believes Dolly would be wanting her to do now.

It’s the first post Frieda has made to Facebook since she released a statement about Dolly’s passing.

The new note from Freida reads: “As a learn to navigate life without Dolly, I’m sharing this interview I did about my sister back in March.

“I know that Dolly would tell me to pick myself up, dust myself off, and get back to work, so that is what I’m going to do.

“I enjoyed working with Chip White, Vanna White’s brother, on his show Relatively Famous. I hope y’all enjoy it as well.”

Fans flooded the post’s comments section with kind and supportive words. One user said: “Keep shining as Dolly would say, the show must go on. But where or how without her we wouldn’t have ever imagined. The world feels dark an empty without her light. My deepest sympathy to all of you.”

Meanwhile others added “I’m so sorry Freida for your loss..I still cant believe the sad news..I pray for you all through this tough time” and “I wish more people realized how hard it is to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and get back to work when the person you’re grieving is the person who gave you the strength, sass, or whatever you needed to have to do just that.”

Dolly’s Family Share She Has Passed Away

Dolly Parton’s family posted a video message to her social media profiles today announcing that she had passed away. Bryan Seaver read out the tragic news, speaking to a camera. He shared: “Hey everyone, my name is Bryan Seaver, son of Cassie Parton, and I am representing the Parton and Owens family today announcing the passing of my aunt Dolly Rebecca Parton Dean.

“Sister, sis, aunt, granny to one generation, and Gigi to the next. This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago before I fully absorbed it as a future reality. As her head of security for more than two decades, a role my father Larry held before me, I have imagined the heaviness of this moment but haven’t truly felt it until now. It is an honor, an honor that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness. But sadness lies with us, but not with Dolly.

“Dolly has lived in the light […] met by Carl, her parents, and countless others who have watched her and longed for her to meet them in the heavens. […] Dolly also opened doors for generations of singers, songwriters, musicians and dreamers from every walk of life , and across every continent. By her example, we believed that anything was possible.

“She never saw a door she couldn’t open, and the doors she opened made and changed history. My family and I have shared a lifetime of beautiful memories with Dolly, but so have you. She has always been on your television, your record player, your CD, and your phone playlist becoming an extended part of your family.”

Rest in peace to Dolly Parton and best wishes to her loved ones.
