Tributes are Pouring In for Greene
As mentioned, Greene has been in several movies beyond “Dances with Wolves.” As a result, many of his fans are taking to social media to remember him, not only as an actor but as a true force to be reckoned with.
One person took to X and said, “Graham Greene was a titan and such a wonderfully empathetic force of nature on screen. I can’t think of any other actor who was so present throughout my life, at home and at the theater. What a loss for Canadian cinema.
Lou Diamond Phillips wrote, “Heartbroken. Terribly saddened to hear of the passing of Graham Greene at only 73. From Wolf Lake to Longmire, we had a beautiful friendship. An Actor’s Actor. One of the wittiest, wiliest, warmest people I’ve ever known. Iconic and Legendary. RIP, My Brother.”
Someone else wrote, “RIP Graham Greene. Every time he popped up on screen when I was a kid, my mom would excitedly point him out for being an actual Native on the screen. Able to be deadly serious and infinitely hilarious (even in smaller roles like Last of Us), he ate up the screen. Nʌki’wah brother.”
Another fan wrote, “RIP Graham Greene. He was one of those wonderful actors that I always enjoyed seeing in anything. He had a warmth and presence that instantly improved whatever he was in. I especially loved when he got the chance to show his great sense of humor. Excellent in any genre.”
He Leaves Behind a Lasting Legacy
According to IMDb, Greene began his acting career in 1976 with a role in “Bei Shao Lin.” He made several appearances in television shows and movies in the years that followed. However, one of his defining roles, Kicking Bird in “Dances With Wolves,” came in 1990.
Later, Greene appeared in “Murder She Wrote,” “Lonesome Dove: The Series,” “The Green Mile,” and several other roles. His last role was in 2025’s “Paige Darcy: Reluctant Detective.”
