Hayden Panettiere’s remains have reportedly been released from the coroner’s office and are now in the hands of her family.
A Greenville Coroner’s Office representative confirmed to TMZ that the late actress’ remains were transferred Tuesday night to a mortuary chosen by her family.
However, the source did not disclose which mortuary received her remains, allowing the family to decide whether to share the information.
Earlier, TMZ reported that Panettiere’s family had been notified that her remains were ready to be turned over to them, but they had yet to choose a funeral home at the time.
Police Visits Brian Hickerson’s Family Home Following Hayden Panettiere’s Death
On Monday, the coroner’s office released new details regarding Panettiere’s death. In a statement, it was confirmed that the autopsy was completed and that “no signs of trauma” were found.
“An autopsy was completed today. At autopsy, no signs of trauma were discovered that would have contributed to the death,” coroner Mike Ellis shared in a statement, according to PEOPLE. “The cause and manner of death remain pending further investigation and the completion of additional studies. This investigation remains active and ongoing. No further details are available for release at this time.”
Meanwhile, police reportedly visited Panettiere’s on-again, off-again boyfriend Brian Hickerson’s family home, per TMZ.
Photos obtained by the outlet showed cops knocking on their door on Wednesday morning. Another cop was also spotted walking up to the Hickerson home’s driveway.
It remains unclear why police visited the Hickerson family home or whether anyone answered the door.
NBC reported that Brian and his brother, Zach Hickerson, were inside the apartment complex when the “Scream” star went into cardiac arrest.
The responding officer reportedly first spoke with Zach, who was “very emotional” as emergency medical services professionals “worked on Hayden.”
Brian, meanwhile, reportedly did not become visibly emotional until EMS declared Panettiere dead. He also reportedly showed police a “bag of medication” the actress was taking at the time of her death.
Hayden Panettiere’s Estranged Mom Lesley Vogel Speaks Out
Meanwhile, Panettiere’s estranged mother, Lesley Vogel, broke her silence following the sudden death of her daughter.
In an interview with NBC News, Vogel called the “One Life to Live” actress an “amazingly talented person,” but “sadly lost her way.”
“I think Hayden was an amazingly talented person in so many departments,” Vogel said. “And I think young people who grow up in the entertainment industry — it is a struggle and it’s a very challenging industry and it’s not unusual for them to sadly find the wrong path.”
She continued, “I think it becomes very difficult to be true to yourself, and I think Hayden sadly lost her way, and I wish it were different. I wish she had stayed true to herself because she had many incredible attributes. I just feel that she’s with her brother and they’re at peace.”
Vogel also shared her thoughts on Brian being with the “Nashville” star when she was found dead in South Carolina.
“This person in her life that we have been trying to get rid of for quite some time was with her at her death and that was Brian Hickerson,” Vogel added. “There is a lot of history in the past that Brian has enabled Hayden many times and this is why her father and I had been concerned for a long time about him.”
