Barbara Eden is addressing health concerns after an unexpected absence from a weekend film festival left fans worried. The legendary star, who turned 95 last month, was scheduled to attend the Cinecon Classic Film Festival in Los Angeles on Saturday, September 5, but pulled out shortly before the event.
As EntertainmentNow reported earlier, Organizers initially attributed her absence to a “sudden illness.”

One day later, the “I Dream of Jeannie” legend addressed the situation herself and reassured fans that she is doing well. “It’s okay everyone! I’m okay!” Barbara wrote on Instagram on Sunday, September 6, explaining that there had “been a bit of miscommunication” about her condition.
Barbara said she is not battling an illness. Instead, she experienced an unexpected reaction to a medication that had recently been prescribed to her.
“I’m not suffering from an illness; my doctor very recently prescribed a brand-new medication that turned out to have some nasty side effects,” she wrote. “Due to the discomfort, my doctor ordered me to remain at home until it can be sorted out.”

Barbara also made clear that she expects the setback to be temporary.
“This is just a speed bump!” she wrote. “I expect to be out and about as soon as I’m given the go-ahead!”

“We’re sorry to share that, due to a sudden illness, Barbara Eden will no longer be able to appear in person at Cinecon tonight,” organizers wrote on Facebook.
They added that Barbara was disappointed to miss the event after looking forward to celebrating with attendees.
Barbara had been scheduled to receive the Cinecon Legacy Award in recognition of her more than seven decades in entertainment.

Although Barbara could not attend, her longtime friend and former costar Pat Boone helped make sure her career was celebrated. Pat, 92, accepted the honor on Barbara’s behalf. The pair worked together in the films “All Hands on Deck” and “The Yellow Canary.”
The award came just two weeks after Barbara celebrated another major milestone. She turned 95 on Sunday, August 23. Despite her age, she has remained active and has repeatedly made clear that she has not ruled out more acting work.

Barbara’s Sunday update was direct: she expects to recover once the medication issue is resolved.
The actress has continued sharing glimpses of her life with fans throughout the year. In April, she posted a cheerful Easter photo with her husband, Jon Eicholtz, drawing warm reactions from followers.
For now, doctors have advised Barbara to stay home while they address the side effects.
Her own message, however, left little doubt about how she views the interruption.
“This is just a speed bump!” she told fans, signaling that she plans to return to her usual activities once her doctor gives her the all-clear.
