Russell Wilson is one of the brightest stars in the NFL today. However, he has also made a name for himself in the fashion world. This comes as the brand he cofounded with his wife, singer Ciara, 3BRAND, has achieved massive success, racking up over $100 million in sales.
Wilson and Ciara launched the children’s clothing company, 3BRAND, in 2021. Recently, he opened up to Forbes about what led him to start the company. He began with the outlet, “I’ve always liked fashion, but I grew up wearing sports clothes and going to school in polos and khakis.”
The New York Giants player continued, “When I got into the NFL, I was single and trying to date a girl way out of my league in Ciara. I realized I had to level up my dress game.” He went on to say that many of the ideas for the brand have been with him since childhood.
According to him, “A lot of the things that Ciara and I accomplished, we wrote them out as kids and had people who believed in us. But as a young kid, you ultimately have to believe in you. It’s about motivating the next generation.”
Wilson Has Plans to Expand 3BRAND
Wilson’s 3BRAND has already achieved success selling athletic wear for kids. It started in 2021 as a 40-piece collection. Now, the company offers more than 100 items. The collection currently includes moisture-wicking shirts and athletic shorts in sizes ranging from toddlers to children’s extra large. Prices for the clothing items range from $25 to $65.
3BRAND items are manufactured through a partnership with Haddad Brands. The company also collaborates with Nike, enabling the production of backpacks, duffel bags, hats, and other items. Of course, items can be purchased from the official 3BRAND website. However, they are also sold at Macy’s, JCPenney, and Nordstrom Rack.
Wilson says he hopes to expand the brand to offer clothing for adults. He also plans to expand into additional international markets.
He and Ciara are Often Considered Goals for Couples
Wilson and Ciara began dating in 2015 after having met at a basketball game. The two then tied the knot the following year, and many have cited them as an example of a beautiful relationship due to their public comments about each other. They have four children, including Ciara’s son from a previous relationship. Notably, he hasn’t adopted her son, but she did change his last name to Wilson.
Ciara opened up about the relationship on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” revealing when she knew Wilson was the one. The “Promise” singer said, “From day one, we sat down, we talked. It’s so funny, ’cause we always laugh about the first time we met. We were talking too long and having such a good time, and in such great conversation, we forgot to eat.”
She continued, “After the first time we met, we both did the same thing. He told his friend on the elevator going down, ‘She’s the one,’ and I called my best friend [Yolonda Frederick], who was my matron of honor, my makeup artist for legitimately 24 years, my best friend, right, and I said, ‘Yoli, I don’t want to jinx anything, but I think…’ and she goes, ‘He’s the one,’ and I go, ‘Yessss.'”
