Shirley MacLaine made a rare appearance in Malibu earlier this week, spending a relaxed afternoon with friends at an outdoor café. As per photos obtained by The Daily Mail, the “Terms of Endearment” star kept her look casual yet chic in a navy sweatshirt layered over a royal blue top, teamed with loose black pants.
The Oscar Winner Soaks Up the Malibu Sun During Casual Outing
As per photos published by Daily Mail, MacLaine, 91, looked upbeat as she chatted with friends at Kristy’s Village Cafe. She sipped a bright orange cocktail served in a stemless martini glass with what appeared to be a chili-salt rim.
Settling into a woven outdoor chair, she smiled often and soaked in the pre-Thanksgiving energy around her.

MacLaine Recently Reflected on Her Life and New Book
GettyIn October 2024, MacLaine spoke exclusively with People about her book The Wall of Life: Pictures and Stories from This Marvelous Lifetime. She said the collection remains rooted in her present-day reflections, aside from stories about her parents and grandparents.
MacLaine also acknowledged that aging is often on her mind. She told People that while she does “wonder about how long” she has left, she isn’t focused on what comes after. When asked who she might want to be in her next life, she replied, “Oh, honey, I don’t know. I can’t do that. I’ve got to spend some time in heaven first.”
MacLaine Reveals Why She Turned Down ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’
GettyMacLaine also opened up about one of Hollywood’s most famous roles. The character of Holly Golightly in the 1961 classic “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” was initially offered to her, she said, but she turned it down.
“I didn’t want to have to worry about my weight to be able to wear all those outfits and do all those fittings,” she wrote in her book. She added that she “didn’t think it was a very good script” at the time.
She told People that while she “doesn’t really regret” the decision, the film is the one project she wishes she had taken.
