“The Office” alum Jenna Fischer has previously shared a photo showing how far she’s come in her cancer journey. Now, she’s posted a pic of her new haircut while explaining her experience with cancer and hair.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday, January 11, the actress popped up a photo of herself with a new chic bob.
“New Haircut! Thank you to my hair fairy @christikaycagle,” Fischer wrote in the caption of her post. “She has been with me every step of the way on this journey.”
The star continued, “She helped me get wigs, built me 4 custom hats with hair, gave me my first pixie, designed tiny clip in extensions to help fill in the gaps for a photoshoot, helped me figure out how to deal with an all new texture (my hair grew back thicker and more coarse after chemo) and now here we are! I finally have enough hair for a bob and I beyond love it.”
Fischer Offered a Hair-Related Timeline
GettyFischer’s caption continued by explaining what her hair journey has involved.
She wrote, “For my ladies on this journey here is a timeline…I would google things like this all during chemo: When will my hair grow back? When will I have hair that looks intentional again?”
“One month post chemo: First little bits of stubble on top of head,” she explained. “2 months post chemo: Hello eyebrows and eyelashes!”
From there, “3 months post chemo: Pixie (as seen on The Today Show), “[v]arious stages of insanity as it grew out…Highland Cow, 80s Mama, Mullet” and “1 ½ years post chemo: Bob.”
She added, “The whole thing was an exercise in patience and surrender. Sending you love if you are on a similar path!”
Many Fans Related to Jenna’s Journey
GettyFischer wasn’t the only one to open up about their cancer-related hair journey. Many of the star’s followers left comments on her Instagram post letting her know they’ve been through similar experiences.
One person wrote, “Your bob is giving me hope that my post-chemo Greg Brady hair will someday look cute!!”
“Love!! I just hit 4 years and it’s such a great feeling to have a real hair cut again! Mine came back so thick and corse and hard to manage (thank goodness for bobby pins & headbands!) but now that I’m at 4 years it’s pretty close to how it was pre-chemo. You look beautiful and I’m happy you are enjoying your new hair!❤️❤️❤️,” another follower added.
A third person wrote, “I’m also 1.5 years post chemo and got a bob last month as a Christmas present for myself! It’s such a wonderful feeling that only cancer patients understand: finally getting enough hair back to have an ACTUAL HAIRCUT! It’s like a piece of yourself finally coming back. So so happy for both of us! 👏👏👏”

So happy for you and everyone else who has gone through a similar journey with their hair fairies. Your hair looks fabulous 💖
