Caroline Manzo is opening up about an unexpected health wake-up call.
The former “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star revealed that recent bloodwork uncovered several health concerns she had no idea she was facing. The results were particularly surprising to Manzo because, from her perspective, she had already been doing many of the things associated with taking care of herself.
“I work out every day. I look great. I feel great. I’m doing everything right,” Manzo, 65, explained in an Instagram video.
But after undergoing extensive testing, Manzo said doctors painted a very different picture of what was happening inside her body, going so far as to describe her as “a heart attack waiting to happen.”
Caroline Manzo Reveals What Doctors Found
Manzo said it was her daughter, Lauren Manzo, who repeatedly encouraged her to get a comprehensive blood panel. Caroline initially didn’t see much reason for concern because she exercised regularly, paid attention to what she ate and felt good.
She eventually listened to her daughter and went through additional bloodwork, which she said required seven or eight vials of blood.
According to Manzo, the testing revealed that she had a fatty liver, low Vitamin B levels and a Vitamin D deficiency. She also said doctors found what she described as a toxin level between 93 and 98 percent, which she called “a critical level.”
The former Bravo star said doctors told her the findings weren’t the result of her failing to take care of herself.
“They said to me, ‘You are doing everything right. It’s your genetics,’” Manzo recalled.
That realization caught her completely off guard.
“I cannot believe that, for somebody who thought she was doing everything right, has so much going on in her body that I did not know about,” she said.
Manzo Says She’s Going Into ‘Beast Mode’
Rather than keeping the experience private, Manzo decided to share what happened as a warning to others who may feel healthy and assume that means everything is fine.
“You need to get yourselves checked!” she urged her followers.
Manzo also made it clear that she’s taking the results seriously and is now focused on addressing the issues doctors uncovered. She described herself as going into “beast mode” as she moves forward.
The health update marks the latest chapter in Manzo’s years-long focus on diet and fitness. Back in 2019, she spoke publicly about changing her eating habits, including cutting back on bread, pasta, meat, soda and cake, and losing nearly 20 pounds.
Her latest experience, however, offered a reminder that outward appearance and even feeling healthy don’t necessarily tell the entire story.
Manzo’s update also received support from followers, including actress Kristin Chenoweth, who praised her for listening to her daughter and getting the information she needed.
For Manzo, that push from Lauren ultimately led to answers she never expected to receive, and a new determination to act on them.
