It was a blast from the past for Denise Richards on Tuesday, May 26 as she shared an Instagram video reuniting with her “Starship Troopers” costar Casper Van Dien. The former “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star told her followers, “We are working together for the first time since Starship Troopers.”
The 55-year-old then joked, “We’re not even gonna say how long ago that was.” Van Dien then cut in to jest, “A couple days ago,” to which Richards shot back, “Yeah, exactly. A few years ago.” Van Dien then added, “We were young. You were young. I was kinda old.”
Richards then panned to the beautiful outdoor area they were filming in, revealing it was located in the town of Hamilton, Ontario which is just outside of Toronto in Canada.
The pair didn’t reveal what they were filming, but a clue can be collected from the FBI jacket Van Dien wore. He told Richards in the comments, “I am so happy to be working with you again. You are the best.”
Richards and Van Dien previously linked up in 2024 to pose with props from “Starship Troopers” at the Dublin Convention Center.

Canadian actress and producer Lara Daans, whose comment implies she was involved in the production, wrote, “And what a pleasure to have you two together on set! Hope we can make it happen again!”
Canadian-American actress Arcadia Kendal declared she was “Honoured to be part of this iconic reunion.”
A fan excitedly exclaimed, “Lieutenant John Rico and Captain Carmen!” while someone else playfully wrote, “Awwww ❤️❤️❤️ love seeing both you youngins collaborating once again 🤗”

Van Dien previously talked about what the movie meant to him at a Comic Con appearance. He said, “I loved being a part of it. I love being a part of the ‘Starship Troopers’ world and I love the family.”
He added that the notoriety of the role has stuck with him, saying getting recognized is “an everyday thing for me.” He revealed, “I have somebody yell a quote at me – a lot of them aren’t ones I said in the movie, but they yell at me with the enthusiasm as if they were. People come up to me and they’re just like so enthusiastic, and that’s awesome.”
The dad of four made it known he isn’t bothered by the attention, declaring, “I love it.”
Richards has also shown affection for the film over the years, frequently appearing at conventions and cheerily posing with fans. In 2025, a fan that runs the Instagram page @cridgyhorror celebrated that they “Got a amazing photo with the cast of the the amazing film Starship Troopers.”
