Garcelle Beauvais Shares New Details on RHOBH Exit—And the TV Icon Who Asked Her Why She Left

Garcelle Beauvais shared new details about her decision to leave “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” more than a year after announcing her exit from the Bravo reality show.

During a May 2026 appearance on Maury Povich’s On Par With Maury Povich podcast, the actress, producer, and mother of three explained that she felt it was “time” for her to go after five seasons on the Beverly Hills-based reality show.

“It was just time for me. It was time,” Beauvais, 59, said. “I did five seasons, and it just felt like my spirit was no longer there, and I couldn’t do it any longer, honestly. … It wasn’t a click in my head. It was a feeling over time, in the last, like, few months leading up to the reunion. I just wasn’t happy to go to work. It didn’t feel like it resonated with me anymore.”

In March 2025, Beauvais announced on Instagram that she made the decision to leave RHOBH. The exit news came after a difficult reunion taping, which ended with her walking off the set.

Garcelle Beauvais Said RHOBH Changed Her Life

While Beauvais has not looked back on her decision to quit RHOBH, she told Povich she had “great memories” from her years on the show. “I had a great time,” she shared. “It really changed my life in a way.”

“I mean, first of all, I was stunned that it took 10 seasons for them to introduce a Black housewife,” Beauvais added. “And so it was a lot of pressure, but I really just wanted to be me at the end of the day. I just wanted to show up as myself, not any, you know, what I thought people wanted me to be or show up in a way. I just wanted to be Garcelle, and I think I was able to do that.”

While she didn’t officially announce her exit on the day that she walked out of the reunion, Beauvais told Povich, “I mean, I really left after the reunion. I didn’t know if I was going to really quit after the reunion, but it was it, there was just a line that I no longer wanted to cross at that point.”

When asked if she felt that she sold her soul on “Housewives,” Beauvais replied, “I don’t think so. But I think had I stayed longer than I needed to, I would have, because it was hurting me inside.”

In the year since her exit from RHOBH, Beauvais has been focusing on her family as well as acting and producing. She told Povich that she met “Happy Days” legend Henry Winkler on the set of a movie she was doing and couldn’t believe what he asked her.

“Can I tell you, I was just shooting a movie, and Henry Winkler, I hadn’t met him, and I walked into the makeup trailer, and he was sitting there,” she shared. “And I go, ‘Uh, Mr. Winkler,’ I just, you know, obviously pay respect and say hello to him. And he goes,‘Why did you leave?’”

“I was like, ‘Henry Winkler’s watching ‘Housewives!’” the Bravo TV alum added with a laugh.
