‘Married at First Sight UK’s‘ self-proclaimed ‘power couple’ have found their spark after a rocky start.
The wedding of Bailey Smith, 36 from Brighton, and Rebecca Fenney, 32 from Liverpool, aired on the Thursday, September 25 episode of the show — and the early signs weren’t great.
Aesthetic nurse Rebecca had made it very clear in the build-up that she wanted nothing less than an “alpha” for a husband. However, the first impression that Bailey, a microbrewery owner, left on her didn’t convince her he fit the description in that regard.
Rebecca Insisted Bailey Wasn’t ‘Her Type’
As seen in a clip posted to the official ‘Married at First Sight UK’ Instagram page, it took Rebecca all of ten seconds to decide Bailey wasn’t “her type” when she joined him at the altar.
Prior to the wedding, one of Rebecca’s friends claimed, “Rebecca knows what she wants, so I will know from Rebecca’s face if this is not her dream man.”
Once Rebecca saw her new husband-to-be, while the two exchanged compliments about how each other looked in their wedding attire, her eyes suggested she was a little disappointed — a fact that was confirmed in a cutaway interview.
Rebecca said, “I said I would know within ten seconds. And alarm bells are going off in my head. He’s not my type. Oh, God.”
Bailey, however, was smitten immediately, so his disappointment was palpable when Rebecca only offered him her cheek when it came to kisses — something that happened during the ceremony and the wedding photos.
But something has now changed for the better. After a honeymoon in Mauritius, the MAFS UK stars have found their spark.
Rebecca Now Believes Bailey Is an “Alpha”
Having decided they’re a “power couple” while on their tropical honeymoon, Bailey and Rebecca have found the spark they were initially lacking — with Rebecca even believing Bailey to be an “alpha” after all.
Bailey’s performance during a dance activity and his romantic gesture during a cyclone, which left the couple confined to their hotel room, have gone a long way to changing his new wife’s opinion of him.
His hands-on approach to the dancing and his covering of the couple’s bed in petals left Rebecca in awe — to the point that they’ve progressed from cheek kisses to lip-on-lip contact.
Another Instagram video, captioned “Rebecca and Bailey are off in the right direction #MAFSUK,” shows the couple discussing their progress. MAFS UK fans have responded en masse to it.
While not everyone is convinced the couple’s connection was legitimate, one user wrote, “I see a genuine guy and both gorgeous too 🤩.”
It remains to be seen whether Bailey and Rebecca’s relationship is destined to last. Viewers will find out more when the next episode of ‘Married at First Sight UK’ airs tonight, Monday, September 29, at 9 p.m. GMT on E4.
