‘Teen Mom’ Alum Facing ‘Scary’ Ordeal As 3-Year-Old Is Hospitalized

“Teen Mom” alum Taylor Selfridge shared an emotional update about her three-year-old daughter, whom she shares with Cory Wharton.

“16 days in the hospital … this is the longest stay/most stressful one we’ve ever had, and that’s saying a lot,” Selfridge posted on Snapchat on Tuesday, April 7, sharing a photo of her daughter, Maya, playing on her tablet.

“She’s getting much better hoping to get out of here soon. It’s a long story and I’ll give you guys an update when we get back home.”

Taylor Selfridge Says Maya is ‘Doing So Much Better’

In another video, she said that it’s “been a lot,” adding that “We all need therapy after this … But she’s doing good.”

“She’s doing so much better,” Selfridge expressed. “You guys have no clue. We’re hoping to get out of here this week.”

The reality television alum also explained that Maya is no longer on oxygen, which means she can leave the room.

Maya Had Open Heart Surgery In 2025

Maya was born in June 2022 with tricuspid atresia, which is a congenital heart defect. Because of that, it requires three open-heart surgeries, with Maya having undergone her final procedure in October 2025.

Selfridge shared a series of posts of her daughter in October 2025 following the surgery.

“Maya had her final open heart surgery called the Fontan 🫀 before the Fontan her blood was mixing oxygenated blood and non-oxygenated blood, which caused her to have low oxygen to her lungs,” she wrote.

“🩷That being said, we just finished the final surgery that we’ve been waiting for about four years since I was pregnant with her 🥺 this will be a forever health issue for her, but she should never need another open heart surgery again and if she does, she will probably be older than me now,” Selfridge added. “She is absolutely the strongest person I have ever known. I’ve watched her go through very, very traumatic things over the last 3 years and after all of this it’s not easy road, but at the end of the day, it was all worth it because she’s here.

“I can’t even begin to explain everything and I chose not to share a lot of the hard parts in this post bc I wanted you all to see that she still smiles even though she’s been through absolute hell and back. Thank you to her team, her cardiologist, her surgeon, the nurses. Thank you to my family for being there for me and mila while we’re going through this. Thank you GOD 🙌”
