While longtime “General Hospital” fans are well versed in supercouples like ‘Luke and Laura’ or ‘Sonny and Carly,’ what they may not know is that there is an undercover supercouple residing in Port Charles.
Off-screen, “GH” stars Carlo Rota and Nazneen Contractor have built a lasting relationship while balancing successful careers in television and film. With that in mind, here are five fast facts “General Hospital” fans should know about this undercover supercouple.
1. Carlo Rota and Nazneen Contractor Both Joined the Cast of ‘General Hospital’ in 2024
Carlo Rota and his wife, Nazneen Contractor, both found their way to Port Charles in 2024. While they might be a supercouple in real life, their characters haven’t crossed paths that many times thus far.
Rota portrays Jenz Sidwell, an international crime boss vying for Sonny Corinthos’s territory in Port Charles. Since joining the soap, Sidwell has been involved in a love triangle with Ava Jerome (Maura West) and Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring).
In contrast, Contractor portrays Justine Turner, the Assistant District Attorney of Port Charles. While ADA Turner was originally looking to put Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) behind bars, the two have since become intertwined in a romantic storyline.
2. Carlo Rota and Nazneen Contractor First Met in 2001 on the Set of ‘Relic Hunter’
More than two decades before arriving in Port Charles, Rota and Contractor first met on the set of “Relic Hunter” in 2001.
While Rota had already been working steadily in Hollywood for years, the role marked one of Contractor’s first major guest-starring appearances at just 18 years old.
Interestingly enough, Rota actually played Contractor’s father in the episode.
3. Carlo Rota and Nazneen Contractor Have a 21-Year Age Gap
Given that Rota and Contractor have a 21-year age gap, nothing romantic developed when the two first met on the set of “Relic Hunter.” After all, Contractor was new to the industry and only 18 years old at the time.
However, when Contractor was in her mid-20s, the pair met again at a bar in Toronto. Interestingly, Rota actually worked in the culinary industry for years, operating several restaurants in Toronto, before he got into acting.
In the end, after the two reconnected in Toronto, the rest was history.
4. Carlo Rota and Nazneen Contractor Got Married in 2010
The two actors tied the knot on April 1, 2010, when Rota was just shy of 49 and Contractor was 27. Rota recently pinned a sweet anniversary message to his wife, celebrating 16 years of marriage.
Rota shared a carousel of sweet photos and videos of himself and his wife to his followers. He captioned his Instagram post, “And suddenly : it’s Sweet Sixteen Years of kisses and wrestling and fun and love and travel and bliss and more!”
5. Carlo Rota and Nazneen Contractor Became Parents in 2011
Rota and Contractor became parents in 2011, with the birth of their son, Darius, on December 24, 2011. Years later, the “General Hospital” stars expanded their family again with the arrival of their second child and only daughter, Avalucia, on December 26, 2017.
