“Days of Our Lives” is in the middle of a cast shake-up this spring, and it’s not the only cast change coming to the Peacock soap. Carson Boatman (Johnny) was let go from the show at the beginning of the year. The actor has addressed his unexpected exit from “Days of Our Lives” and his new career focus.
Carson Boatman Grateful for Time on ‘Days of Our Lives’
In January, news broke that Boatman, Raven Bowens (Chanel), Leo Howard (Tate), and Ashley Puzemis (Holly) were let go from “Days of Our Lives.” Due to the show’s advanced filming schedule, the actors and characters will remain on-screen until late 2026 or early 2027.
Despite his unexpected exit, Boatman has nothing but love and gratitude for his time in Salem.
“I will forever be grateful for the time that I got to spend on Days of Our Lives. It truly is a special place,” the actor expressed to SoapHub during a stop on tour with the band The Day Players.
The band keeps Carson connected to his soap family because he performs with Eric Martsolf (Brady), Brandon Barash (Stefan), and Wally Kurth (Justin). Although Kurth is currently taking a break from the band, “General Hospital” alum Scott Reeves (Steve) is joining the guys on tour.
Boatman has filmed his last episode as Johnny on the hit Peacock soap. However, he hopes to bring Johnny back to Salem in the future, if the powers that be allow it. Johnny’s a fan favorite, so a return would certainly be welcome.
The soap star isn’t opposed to joining another show. Boatman even confirmed that he would be very interested in a stint on “General Hospital.”
“I’m absolutely open to seeing what life is like in Port Charles,” Boatman stated.
Focusing Back on Music
Boatman remains busy following his exit from “Days of Our Lives. Aside from touring with The Day Players, Boatman released a new song, “Wild Things,” and it’s not the last new tune he intends to drop.
Now that he’s not filming the soap, Boatman has been able to shift his focus back to his love of music.
“What’s cool about music is that you can come up with these stories and be these different characters,” he shared.
Before he was known as Johnny on “Days of Our Lives,” Boatman was part of a boy band called Citizen Four, with Conner Boatman, Josh Levi, and Austin Percari. Music has been something Boatman has wanted to pursue alongside acting for years, and now he gets to do just that.
Look for more new songs from Boatman coming later this year.
