A much-loved star of soap opera “Days of Our Lives” has passed away at the age of just 57.
Actor, producer, and writer Patrick Muldoon played Austin Reed on the show from 1992 until 1995, then again from 2011 until 2012. Originally an aspiring boxer, Reed’s primary and most notable occupation in the series was as a forensic accountant.
According to Deadline, Patrick Muldoon passed away suddenly on the morning of Sunday, April 19, following a heart attack.
Patrick Muldoon Was a Star of Film and Television
GettyPer IMDb, Patrick Muldoon was a star of both the big and small screens, with many appearances in both movies and television shows.
His most significant movie role came in 1997’s sci-fi action flick “Starship Troopers,” in which he played Zander Barcalow. However, he also appeared in the likes of 1999’s supernatural horror “Stigmata,” 2002’s drama “Heart of America,” 2013’s 3D horror “Spiders 3D,” 2017’s supernatural musical thriller “American Satan,” and 2020’s neo-noir crime thriller “Arkansas.”
On television, in addition to his most famous role on “Days of Our Lives,” he appeared in many other shows. They included sitcom “Who’s the Boss?,” teen sitcom “Saved by the Bell,” crime drama “Silk Stockings,” and soap opera “Melrose Place.”
A lot of his work came in television films, with his credits in that space including 1993’s “Night Sins,” 2000’s “Chain of Command,” 2002’s “Project Viper,” 2004’s “A Boyfriend for Christmas,” 2007’s “Ice Spiders,” and 2015’s “A Christmas Reunion.”
Suffice it to say, Muldoon leaves behind a significant acting legacy.
Muldoon Was Looking Forward to the Future
Just two days before his tragic passing, Patrick Muldoon had posted on his Instagram account to his 18,800 followers to express his announcement about an upcoming project.
Muldoon was set to appear in Matt Ross’ crime movie “Kockroach,” based on William Lashner’s 2007 novel of the same name, alongside a plethora of major stars.
IMDb’s synopsis of the movie reads, “A mysterious outsider rises through New York’s underworld, building a criminal empire and becoming a powerful crime boss while challenging the city’s established criminal hierarchy.”
The caption to Muldoon’s post about it read, “So excited to be a part of this amazing project KOCKROACH directed by Matt Ross starring Chris Hemsworth, Taron Edgerton, Zazzie Beetz And Alec Baldwin. Filming now in Australia.”
Other actors set to appear in the film included Rachel Sennott and Channing Tatum.
Muldoon’s post about “Kockroach” emphasizes just how sudden his death was, and makes his passing at such a young age all the more sad.
