Jake Latimer Says He Has ‘Unfinished Business’ After Life-Threatening Survivor Exit

He went to Fiji to chase a million-dollar dream on “Survivor” season 49, but ended up fighting for his life. “Survivor” 49 contestant Jake Latimer is opening up about the terrifying moment a venomous sea snake bit his foot, forcing him out of the game.

Now, after missing out on the title of Sole Survivor, Jake says he has “unfinished business,” and he’s ready to return to the island to finish what he started.

The Medical Evacuation on ‘Survivor’ 2025

Jake was having a moment last night on “Survivor.” The Kele Tribe hasn’t won a thing this season, and they were all feeling defeated.

Meanwhile, Jake had also left his wife, who was going to deliver their first child at any moment. He was going to miss the birth of his first child, just to be on “Survivor” and not win a thing?

He was reflecting on it all while sitting on the beach, which is when the venomous snake came up and bit his foot. It was an odd moment, as he wasn’t sure if the snake bit him or not. He seemed very calm in the moment, but he told Parade he was feeling the complete opposite.

Jake said, “At one point, when I was getting off the boat, I thought my life was over. I was told it was a very, very poisonous snake. And I kept saying, ‘I’m gonna be a dad,’ and that’s all I can think about. ‘I’m gonna be a father. I’m gonna be a father. Don’t let me die. Don’t let me die.’”

Watching it back last night didn’t help either. Having to relive that trauma.

“And to watch that back, I’m not gonna lie to you, I was bawling my eyes out,” Jake said. “It was a very, very tough watch, incredibly tough to relive that again. But I’m so thankful for the medical staff. And I’m still here today, and I might not even be here talking to you if it went differently, right? So, yeah, I’m very thankful.”

‘Unfinished Business’

While Jake was thankful to be sent home and witness the birth of his son, it’s not how he wanted to leave the game. He told Parade, “Did I want to go out like that? No. And I mentioned before, the only way to leave ‘Survivor’ is getting your torch snuffed.”

So, would he do the show again? No question about it!

“I have unfinished business out on an island. And if I ever get a call for a production saying that they want the Shoe Bandit back, they don’t even have to finish a sentence, and I’ll be packing,” Jake stated. “I’m ready to go. There’s a fire in my belly. And then next time, I’m coming to play, if I get the shot.”

Do you think Jake should get another shot at playing “Survivor?”

  1. Absolutely, bring him back. He deserves a chance to win survivor. I believe this was God’s way of bringing him home to be with his wife and witness the miracle of his precious son being brought into this world. Now it’s time to let him see if he can win Survivor! Good Luck Jake and congrats on the new baby.
