Taylor Swift’s dog finally has a name, and it may sound familiar to longtime fans. The couple’s fluffy white Samoyed is named Wendy. The name has an interesting connection to two songs from the singer’s catalog: “Cardigan” and “Peter.” Meanwhile, fans are also paying close attention to Taylor Swift’s recent outfits, wondering if the singer is dropping clues as to her next musical move.
Taylor Swift’s Dog Wendy Has a Musical Connection
According to Just Jared, Wendy is the Samoyed recently seen alongside Travis Kelce in his Tommy Hilfiger campaign.
The dog’s arrival had been the subject of fan speculation for months. Rumors began earlier this year that Kelce and Swift had adopted a dog.
Now, Wendy has stepped into the spotlight herself.
According to Billboard, the Samoyed appears throughout the Tommy Hilfiger campaign filmed at New York’s Plaza Hotel. Wendy joins Kelce during a quieter moment in the ad.
The football star also spoke about her in his Vogue interview. When the writer complimented Wendy, Kelce replied, “Are you kidding me? She lights up my day.”
The ‘Cardigan’ Clue
The name Wendy immediately stands out because of a reference in Taylor Swift’s song, “Cardigan.”
The song was released in 2020 as part of “Folklore.” Taylor Swift used Peter Pan imagery throughout the song. One of its best-known lines references Peter losing Wendy.
Rolling Stone noted that “Cardigan” first introduced the Peter and Wendy idea before the singer returned to it years later.
‘Peter’ Took the Connection Further
Taylor Swift returned to the Peter Pan story on “Peter.” The song appeared on “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology” in 2024.
A June 2025 analysis published by the Los Angeles Times examined the song’s literary references. It pointed to Wendy as the woman who sits by the window in the Peter Pan story.
The song also includes several other references to the classic tale. Taylor Swift mentions the “Lost Boys chapter” of Peter’s life. She also writes about waiting for Peter to return.
The ending gives Wendy’s story a different direction. The woman by the window eventually turns out the lights. In the song, that image represents letting go and moving forward.
The connection between “Cardigan” and “Peter” is therefore more than a single passing reference. Both songs draw from the same Peter Pan characters and ideas.
That makes Wendy an especially fitting name for Taylor Swift to choose for her dog.
Still, there is no confirmation that the singer named her dog after her Peter Pan characters referenced in “Cardigan” and “Peter.” The connection is intriguing, but the reason behind the name has not been explained.
Taylor Swift’s Dog Wendy Makes Her Public Debut
According to Billboard, Wendy appears in the two-minute Tommy Hilfiger campaign alongside Kelce. The ad was filmed at the Plaza Hotel in New York.
The campaign brings the Samoyed into the public eye. It also confirms that the dog is now part of the household alongside Swift’s three cats – Olivia, Meredith and Benjamin.
For now, the story behind Wendy’s name remains unconfirmed. But the connection is hard for Swifties to miss. Taylor Swift has returned to Peter and Wendy in her music, first in “Cardigan” and later in “Peter.”
In other music news, Michael J. Fox made a rare appearance at John Mayer’s exclusive concert last week.
