Taylor Swift’s new album “The Life of a Showgirl” has finally arrived — and the pop superstar is making the media rounds to celebrate the release in true Swift fashion.
The 12-track record, her highly anticipated 12th studio album, dropped this week. Fans around the globe stayed up late to devour the new songs, many of which contain lyrical nods to fiancé Travis Kelce. But the album release is only the beginning. Swift has packed her schedule with TV appearances, radio takeovers, and candid interviews that are giving fans an inside look at her new era.
Taylor Swift Kicks Off Album Promo With TV and Radio Interviews
Swift’s whirlwind promotional tour officially kicked off with a run of UK radio interviews, appearing across Capital, Heart, Hits Radio, and Magic Radio during the 8 a.m. hour. She opened up about the making of “The Life of a Showgirl” and reflected on her career so far.
She’s also slated to make major TV appearances. On Friday, Swift will appear on “The Graham Norton Show,” timed with the nationwide premiere of her Official Release Party of a Showgirl. Next week, she’ll head to the U.S. for interviews on “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon” and “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”
Fans in London might have caught a glimpse of Jamie Theakston and Emma Bunton driving around the city with a megaphone, alerting listeners to Swift’s Heart Breakfast appearance. She’ll also join Z100’s Elvis Duran later today at 11 a.m. BST.
Meanwhile, BBC Radio 1’s Greg James has a full sit-down interview with Swift airing Monday morning, with the full conversation hitting YouTube beforehand. During their chat, she surprised Greg by inviting him to her wedding and shared how Kelce reacted to hearing the new album for the first time.
Speaking about Kelce, Swift joked, “All of my guy friends are like, ‘I just want Travis to pick me up and throw me over a roof or throw me in the pool… seeing him walk through a door is genuinely a privilege.’” She teased that Greg might get the same treatment at the wedding.
When Greg asked her to revisit his now-famous “you need to have a shower” comment from 2018, Swift clarified that she was never offended. “People don’t need to bubble wrap me in their minds as much as they do,” she said.
‘The Life of a Showgirl’ Era Sparks Fan Reactions
Swift’s openness during her first round of interviews has sparked emotional reactions from fans online. One fan wrote on Reddit, “It’s bittersweet listening to her say that this is the first time she’s been at the same place as when she made the album and when it was released. Imagine taking 12 albums for that to happen… I’m just so happy for her as a fan.”
Another added, “Oh we’re being fed. Five interviews on the first day and we still have ‘The Graham Norton Show’ too.”
A third fan summed it up perfectly: “The way she says her fans are the king and pushes herself to perform even on days when it isn’t easy is why we stan this queen. We’re so lucky because so many other artists out there feel so entitled and don’t put their fans on a pedestal or take care of them in the way that she does.”
“The Life of a Showgirl” is out now.
