Taylor Swift is arguably the biggest name in music over the last decade-plus. However, the pop superstar has not performed on the biggest stage in the world: The Super Bowl halftime show.
Many speculated ahead of Super Bowl LX that Swift may finally take the stage amid her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. However, the honor ultimately went to Puerto Rican icon Bad Bunny.

Jay-Z and his company, Roc Nation, are in charge of selecting the halftime show performers for the NFL’s championship game. While Swift has had a long relationship with Jay and his wife, Beyoncé, sources told Rob Shuter that the “Life of a Showgirl” artist is not a contender for the halftime show.
“Insiders say Jay-Z is thinking bigger, louder, and riskier,” Shuter reported in his Naughty But Nice newsletter on Monday, after the success of Bad Bunny’s halftime show. “Sources tell Naughty But Nice that Jay, who oversees halftime entertainment through Roc Nation, feels fully vindicated after backing a performance some initially doubted.”
“Taylor equals ratings,” a source told Shuter. “But Jay isn’t chasing guaranteed anymore. He’s chasing impact.”
Another source told the outlet that even if offered, Swift would turn down the opportunity, at least until her fiancé retires.
“She won’t perform and cheer him on in the same season. If she does it, it’ll be after he retires,” the insider noted.
Taylor Swift Addressed Super Bowl Halftime Rumors
During an October 2025 appearance on the “Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon,” Swift was asked point blank whether she turned down the opportunity to perform at the halftime show.
“Taylor Swift, you turned down the Super Bowl Halftime Show because the NFL wouldn’t allow you to own your performance footage,” Fallon read off a cue card list of rumors.
Swift responded, “No, no. Well, here’s the thing. Like, Jay-Z has always been very good to me. Our teams are really close. They sometimes will call and say, ‘How does she feel about…?’ And that’s not, like, an official offer or a conference room conversation.”
She explained that she was able to tell Jay-Z the truth that she is in love with Travis Kelce and does not want to steal his NFL limelight.
“I am in love with a guy who does that sport on that actual field. Like, that is violent chess. That is gladiators without swords. That is dangerous. I am — The whole season, I am locked in on what that man is doing on the field,” Swift added. “Can you imagine if, like, he’s out there every single week, putting his life on the line, doing this very dangerous, very high-pressure, high-intensity sport, and I’m like, ‘I wonder what my choreo should be?'”
