Travis Kelce Gushes Over Taylor Swift’s Style: ‘Always Authentically Herself’

It’s fair to say that Travis Kelce  has upped his fashion game during the course of his relationship with Taylor Swift.

It’s something the 36-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end acknowledges in a recent interview with Vogue, praising his new bride’s dynamic sense of style and crediting her influence on his own.

Reflecting on his wife’s fashion sense, Kelce is quick to point to her seemingly effortless ability to exude a style that is specifically her own.

“I love that Tay’s always authentically herself with every look,” he tells the magazine.

“Whether we’re hanging with some friends or just us two on a fun night out for dinner, she’s always effortless, elegant, and beautiful,” Kelce adds. “She’s not afraid of unique patterns or bold colors, and she’s just timeless and classy in everything she steps out in.”

Looking back at how he first grew interested in fashion, Kelce reveals that it came about through his passion for sports.

“My style interest started when I was a kid, through my love for sports,” he says.

“The basketball shoes, the Ken Griffey Jr.’s, even Wayne Gretzky’s style in the late ’90s, when he teamed up with Nike. There are so many athletes I could name,” he adds.

“Deion Sanders is another. He had so much swagger in how he dressed and presented himself. I think that’s where the interest started, and I’m a bit of a chameleon, you know? I kind of take bits and pieces from everybody and everything that I see, and just kind of change things around depending on which situation I’m in and what event I’m going to,” Kelce continues.

“I enjoy it,” he says of the kick he gets from dressing up. “From throwing on some wacky stuff to some really slick stuff.”

A Tommy Hilfiger Campaign

Kelce’s interview with Vogue was in conjunction with his new campaign for Tommy Hilfiger.

As Kelce explained, he’s had a long association with the fashion brand.

“I remember asking my mom for one of [Tommy’s] sailing gear jackets when I was in high school,” he recalls. “They had so much personality. And I loved his sportswear. The rugbies with the oversized fit and the classic Tommy tee…it’s pretty surreal to come full circle and now be working with the man himself.”

As for why the company felt Kelce would be a good fit, brand founder Tommy Hilfiger did not hold back on his enthusiasm.

“He’s not only a star athlete, but he’s got charisma,” Hilfiger says.

“His personality is pretty amazing. He’s so positive, so upbeat, and a lot of fun. But he’s very serious about loving fashion. And he grew up wearing my clothes. When we took him into the archive, he was like a kid in a candy store. I just love his love of life,” Hilfiger adds.

“I can’t give too much away just yet, but it’s definitely a reflection of both our worlds coming together,” Kelce told Vogue of the new collection he’ll be promoting.
