Ed Kelce is a happy dad who can’t stop talking about his son’s new achievement, a personal one.
Just hours after Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce broke the internet with engagement news, Ed is dishing on what went on behind the scenes.
Kelce Senior is touching on details about his son, Travis Kelce’s, romantic proposal to Taylor. In an interview with News 5 Cleveland, Ed revealed where his son and an NFL star proposed to Taylor. Let’s dig deeper and see how Taylor got her fairytale moment in real life!
Venue: When & Where Did The Engagement Take Place?
Ed said, “Maybe two weeks, not quite two weeks ago,” in a garden in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
“He was going to put it off till this week. I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off till this week, to, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big special event,” Ed explained.

How Travis Popped the Question
According to Ed, Travis planned a sweet, low-key moment. “He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, ‘let’s go out and have a glass of wine,’” Ed recalled. “They got out there, and that’s when he asked her, and it was beautiful.”
Afterward, the couple FaceTimed their families to share the happy news. “They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew. So, to see them together is great,” Ed said.
The ‘Internet Breaking’ Engagement Reveal on Instagram
The couple, both 35, confirmed the news publicly on August 26 with a romantic Instagram post. Swift captioned the photos of the garden proposal, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨.”
The pop icon also showcased her dazzling new ring, designed by jewelry artist Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry. The sparkler is an Old Mine Brilliant Cut diamond, estimated to be worth between $675,000 and $1 million.
For the special moment, Swift wore Ralph Lauren’s Striped Silk-Blend Dress, accessorized with tan sandals, gold jewelry, and her Cartier Santos Demoiselle watch. Kelce coordinated in a navy collared shirt, off-white shorts, and brown loafers.
A Family Dinner Celebration

It’s truly kinda neat,” Ed said.
