Meghan Markle gave fans a rare glimpse into her family life while celebrating Prince Archie’s 7th birthday with a heartfelt Instagram tribute featuring never-before-seen photos of her oldest son.
On May 6, the Duchess of Sussex shared two personal snapshots of Archie, whom she shares with Prince Harry, alongside the caption, “7 years later… Happy birthday to our sweet boy.” According toE! News, one of the photos showed Archie as a baby resting on Prince Harry’s chest while Harry looked down at him lovingly. The image also offered a rare look at Archie’s face, something Meghan and Harry have mostly kept private over the years.
The second photo showed Archie walking barefoot on the beach beside his younger sister, Princess Lilibet, 4, while the siblings held hands. The children faced away from the camera as they walked together along the shoreline.
The rare post immediately caught attention online since Meghan and Harry have largely kept Archie and Lilibet out of the spotlight since stepping back from royal duties and moving to California in 2020.

The beach photo also highlighted the close relationship between Archie and Lilibet. The outlet noted that both children appeared to inherit Prince Harry’s signature red hair while walking hand in hand together.
Per People, Harry and Meghan intentionally give their children “space to be themselves — for their different personalities to flourish,” adding that privacy has always been especially important to Harry because of how publicly he grew up.
Meghan has occasionally shared small glimpses of Archie and Lilibet over the years, including moments baking cookies together, spending time in the garden and participating in Easter egg hunts, per her Instagram post.
That the Sussex family has reportedly settled comfortably into life in Montecito, California. One source said “the kids are really thriving,” while another shared that Harry and Meghan are focused on “raising their children, doing meaningful work and earning a living.”
Meghan and Harry Have Been Open About Parenting Differently
The birthday tribute also comes as both Meghan and Harry continue opening up about parenthood and protecting their children’s privacy.
Per E! News, Meghan previously spoke to Harper’s Bazaar about how motherhood has changed her perspective both personally and professionally.
“I’m a mom with kids at that age where they are constantly learning something new,” Meghan said. “I watch them face things that feel completely insurmountable every day.”
She added, “I can give myself the same grace as a founder. There’s no such thing as perfect.”
Prince Harry has also reflected on wanting to give Archie and Lilibet a different upbringing than the one he experienced growing up within the royal family. According to Parade, Harry previously described life in the public eye as “being in a zoo” during a 2021 appearance on Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast.
The Duke of Sussex has since spoken about healing past trauma through therapy and focusing on becoming “the best version” of himself for his children.
While Meghan and Harry still keep most family moments private, Archie’s birthday tribute offered fans a rare and sweet look at the family’s life behind the scenes.
