Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton have been friends for decades, and now Dolly is stepping into the role of “wingwoman” for the singer.
According to the Examiner, an inside source, Dolly thinks Reba’s boyfriend Rex Linn is dragging his heels about proposing.
And apparently “The Voice” judge is more than ready for him to pop the question.
“Rex has been stalling so long that a lot of Reba’s friends don’t understand what he’s waiting for,” revealed the source. “He jokes they’re like a married couple already and don’t need a ring to prove it. But Dolly’s not afraid to tell it like it is, and she thinks it stinks.”

While Reba McEntire and Rex Linn now co-star in Reba’s NBC sitcom “Happy’s Place,” they first met in 1991 while shooting the Kenny Rogers movie “The Gambler.”
They reconnected in 2020 while both guest starring on an episode of “Young Sheldon.”
In a 2023 appearance on “Live With Kelly and Ryan,” (now “Live With Kelly and Mark”), Reba said the pair met for dinner in Los Angeles with a group of friends, and “I sidled up to him” she said smiling.
Reba also revealed that after she ordered tater tots that night, Rex gave her the nickname “Tater Tot” and it’s stuck ever since.
Dolly Parton Urges Rex Linn to ‘Do the Right Thing’
Reportedly, Dolly Parton thinks it’s time for Rex Linn to make things official.
According to the insider, “Dolly’s telling Rex to stop messing with her friend and that people would be happy if he’d do the right thing.”
“Life is short and Dolly is the first to know that,” the source went on. “Besides, she thinks they make a great couple. A holy union would only solidify what they have.”
The source also says Reba wants Rex to pop the question. “Clearly, Reba wants it. She’s been putting out hints for years,” said the insider.
Reba McEntire Is Bold About Her Feelings for Rex Linn
As for Reba McEntire, the Voice coach isn’t shy about expressing her feelings for her boyfriend of more than five years.
In October 2023, Reba told PEOPLE she loves Rex “with all my heart,” calling him very supportive.
“Rex meets me at the garage when I get out of the car. He’ll fix me a drink if I need it,” Reba confided. “He’ll sit there and talk to me because I’ve talked my head off all day long so he knows I just need to relax and chill.”
And Reba says the pair’s relationship is very romantic. She told PEOPLE, “Every day is Valentine’s Day for us. We’re just silly, goofy people in our 60s that love life [and] love each other. We have fun. We’re dorky, goofy, and we have similar interests in just about everything, so it’s just fun all the time.”
