Jana Duggar Shares 1st Message Amid Brother Joseph’s ‘Situation’: ‘Deeply Saddened’

The eldest Duggar daughter, Jana Duggar, and husband Stephen Wissmann are praying for the victim involved in her brother Joseph Duggar’s situation.

The couple released a statement on Thursday, April 2, two weeks after Joseph’s arrest.

Jana Duggar Breaks Her Silence

The former “19 Kids & Counting” star took to social media on Thursday to share a heartbreaking statement regarding her 31-year-old brother.

“We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by the situation involving my brother, Joseph. This news comes as a shock to us, as we had no prior knowledge before it became public,” Jana wrote via her Instagram Story. “Our hearts are with the child who has been harmed—this is a grievous and unacceptable wrong. We continue to pray for the victim and for justice to be carried out.”

This is the first time Jana has spoken out since Joseph was taken into custody on March 18.

Duggar Family Releases Individual Statements

Prior to Jana’s statement, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar reacted to the devastating news regarding their seventh child in a statement to People.

“Right now, they are focused on loving their family and helping Kendra and her children during this difficult time,” a spokesperson for the famous family told the outlet on Monday, March 30. “They are praying for the victim. They ask for privacy and appreciate the kind words and prayers offered by so many.”

Jim Bob and Michelle are parents to 19 children, and gained fame during their time on TLC’s “19 Kids & Counting.” Many of the Arkansas-based couple’s children have spoken out in support of Joseph’s alleged victim, asking for prayers during the difficult time.

“We, like many, have spent the week completely shocked, confused, and grieved to list a few emotions. We are disgusted to hear the news about my brother, however, this isn’t about how it’s impacted our lives,” Jason Duggar shared via Intagram. “We are angered by what has happened, and we pray God’s righteous hand and the court system will serve justice in the situation as deserved.”

Similarly, Jill Dillard shared a family update with her husband Derick Dillard and their three children, writing, “So thankful for some extra family time at the beach over spring break. God knew this week away was exactly what we’d need when we planned it months ago. Thank y’all for the love and prayers during this difficult time of heartbreak and continued processing.”
