The Duggar family who shot to fame on the TLC show “19 Kids & Counting” has had a difficult week after the arrest of 31-year-old Joseph Duggar, Jim Bob and Michelle’s 7th child. Several of his famous siblings have spoken out and reacted to the situation, but his parents have stayed quiet until now. People explained the charges against Joseph in a March 23 report here.
Jim Bob and Michelle broke their silence on the matter in a statement they gave to People on Monday, March 30.
The outlet says the couple told them through a spokesperson that they are “heartbroken over this entire situation.” The rep went on to say, “Right now, they are focused on loving their family and helping Kendra and her children during this difficult time. They are praying for the victim. They ask for privacy and appreciate the kind words and prayers offered by so many,” per the report.
Joseph is married to Kendra Caldwell Duggar, who was arrested the day after Joseph, but People says a source told them, “She’s not suspected or accused of participating in his alleged crime.” Instead, People says a source told them Kendra’s only charges are related to a discovery of door locks on the outside of her children’s bedrooms, which investigators discovered while searching the home.
Joseph Duggar Has Been Moved from Arkansas; Location Currently Unknown
Joseph Duggar’s current location has not been publicly disclosed following his discharge from the Washington County jail in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
People says a rep for the Washington County Sheriff’s Office told them the father of four was transferred out of their custody on Friday, March 27. In Arkansas, Joseph has been charged for the apparent safety issues involving his home. During his 9 days in Washington County’s custody, he was awaiting extradition to Bay County, Florida, where he is facing other more serious charges, but it’s unclear whether he’s arrived there yet.
People says the Bay County Sheriff’s Office declined to comment when asked if Joseph had been extradited to their facility.
Michelle Duggar Was Seen Clashing With a Reporter Shortly After Joseph Duggar’s Legal Issues Hit the News
Michelle Duggar was seen shortly after picking up Kendra after her very brief time in jail, and the matriarch was not happy to be confronted by a paparazzi in front of an unidentified home.
Michelle angrily held up her phone and declared the reporter was “interfering with children” as he begged her to do an interview, mistakenly referring to Joseph as “your son-in-law.” The person who posted the TikTok clip of the explosive moment mistakenly stated the reporter was attempting to question her about her son Josh, rather than Joseph.
Michelle told the reporter, “You have no right to be here!” before storming off. But she returned once more to tell him, “You will not ask me anything. You will have to talk to someone else.”
