Busy Philipps, beloved for her roles in “Dawson’s Creek,” “Freaks and Geeks,” and “Cougar Town,” shared an update with fans on August 27, posting several photos that offered a glimpse into what she has been doing since her brain tumor diagnosis.
Busy Philipps Shares Photos From the Hospital
The photos include a look at her in the hospital with a bandage around her head, taken post-surgery while she is still in the ICU. The post also includes a photo of the incision wound, her walking her dog, working, watching the sunset, and multiple short video clips that give fans a better look into her life. In the caption, she explained what each picture or video clip shows, and she also used it to express her gratitude and let fans know she has already recovered. “Everyone(mostly) has been so overwhelmingly kind in the past 24 hours, so thank you so much for all your well wishes and love and prayers and support,” she wrote. “But just to reiterate, because the internet loves a clickbait, I AM ALREADY RECOVERED! You all have literally watched me recover since March 2, you just didn’t know it! I AM TOTALLY FINE! YAY MEDICINE!”
Philipps also thanked People magazine for letting her share her story. She gave them a detailed interview about her health earlier this week. In the caption, the actress also thanked her children, friends, family, and TV family at CBS legal drama “Cupertino.” She thanked them for “helping to get me through these last 6 months as I recovered and tried to get back to feeling like myself, which I really finally do!”
Fans showed their support in the comments, expressing their relief that the star is now healthy.
Busy Philipps Encourages Women to Advocate for Themselves
Philipps gave an interview to People, published on Friday, August 28, detailing her experience of being diagnosed with a brain tumor, and how she is now healthy. She is also raising awareness and encouraging other women to advocate for themselves because she opted to get a full-body MRI scan when her primary care doctor had said she did not need it.
“I didn’t know why I wanted to get this scan except for the fact that I just did,” she said. Her decision to get the scan was what found the tumor. “I think that that really speaks to us as women. We are frequently told by doctors that there is nothing to worry about and you kind of know that there’s something to worry about,” she said.
In her interview, Phillips also recalled how she felt before her surgery, and the changes since her operation. “When I first told her (actress Michelle Williams), she said, ‘Busy, you have been saying for the past two years, ‘My brain feels broken.’ And she was right. I have. I’ve been saying this for the last few years. I don’t know, my brain feels broken,” she said.
Now, she revealed her “brain does not feel broken anymore,” adding, “I’m kinda like good to go.”
