Dwyane Wade has unveiled a new look in a significant transformation that leaves the star unrecognizable, confusing his fans and friends.
The former professional basketballer and current host of “The Cube” has shaved off his beard, giving him a throwback look that is dramatically different to his usual look. Wade took to his personal Instagram account to show the world his freshly shaven face, with the 44-year-old having completely removed his usual thick beard.
Wade now sports a much smaller goatee and pencil mustache, with the ex NBA star seemingly choosing to make the change in an effort to look younger.
Gabrielle Union Approves of Dwyane Wade’s New Look
In the social media post he used to announce his new look, Wade included two images of himself alongside a video, giving fans a good look at how different he appears without his signature facial hair. He also posted a photograph of a much younger Wade, comparing his current appearance to when he was a child.
He captioned the post suggesting that the transformation makes him look considerably younger. He wrote, “How many years did I take off!? The Beard needed a break!”
While his wife Gabrielle Union has not directly addressed his new look, Wade has suggested that she is a fan of the change. In a temporary story added to his account, he shared an image of Union kissing his now clean shaven cheek along with the caption “She likes it…”
Dwyane Wade’s NBA Friends React to His Transformation
While plenty of his social media followers were quick to react to his new look, some of his fellow NBA stars also posted their own reactions.
Boston Celtics forward Paul George wrote, “They gone think you had plastic surgery bro lol.”
Bam Adebayo tagged Heat basketballer Udonis Haslem and wrote, “we need to go check on bro?” Haslem later replied to simply say, “I’m use to this.”
“Come on CHAMP,” Carmelo Anthony added in his own comment.
Meanwhile, musician Polo Shak wrote, “Word to my brother. I thought that was RAY J or Kirk Frost” and Christina Granville replied, “You look like you’re about to ask “You got games on yo phone!!” 😂😂😂😂”
Gabrielle Union & Dwyane Wade Are Still Going Strong
Union and Wade have often spoken about their strong relationship and regularly share images of their personal lives. The couple have been married since August 2014 and share a seven-year-old daughter, Kaavia. They will share their 12th wedding anniversary later this month on August 30.
The actress recently opened up about the support Wade offered when her father passed away earlier this year. Sylvester “Cully” Union Jr. was 81 years old when he died on April 16 and had spent several years battling dementia.
“You know, my dad and my husband were very, very close,” Union said in a social media post. “We just go through pictures and reminisce and he’s just physically there when I’m crumbling.”
