McConaughey, his wife Camila Alves McConaughey, and their three children, Levi Alves McConaughey, Livingston Alves McConaughey, and Vida Alves McConaughey, looked gorgeous as they posed for the camera. The “Mud” actor wore a navy suit with a white button-down top, leaving the top buttons undone for a more relaxed finish. His beautiful wife, Camila, wore a tailored three-piece suit consisting of pants, a vest, and a blazer.

Levi, the couple’s eldest child, was born on July 7, 2008. For the event, he wore a beige shirt and jeans. Livingstone was born on December 28, 2012. He wore light-blue pants and a matching jacket over a white T-shirt, and Vida, their middle child and only daughter, rocked a slim-fitting black dress. She was born on January 3, 2010.

Matthew McConaughey Discusses Raising His Kids in Texas

For the most part, McConaughey is raising his children away from the limelight, and they are growing up in Texas. This means that seeing them publicly is a rare and welcome occurrence for his fans.

The family relocated from California to Texas in 2014. This is a decision the actor discussed in a March 2024 interview with Southern Living. “Ritual came back, whether that was Sunday church, sports, dinner together as a family every night, or staying up after that telling stories in the kitchen, sitting at the island pouring drinks and nibbling while retelling them all in different ways than we told them before,” he said of the changes that happened after moving to Texas.

He also spoke about the slower pace of life, saying, “Time slowed down. The clock was right, the body clock. And part of that is ritual; part of that is just the distance between places and the way people move. But it’s also the hospitality, the courtesy, the common sense, the lack of drama.”

Alves grew up in Brazil, but McConaughey grew up in a small town in Texas. “I was born in a little small town, Uvalde,” he said on an episode of the “Good Trouble with Nick Kyrgios” podcast. “We left in 1979 because it was kinda getting too big. It was 12,000 people and a Wendy’s burger moved into town.”

Matthew McConaughey Shares His Approach to Fatherhood

McConaughey is passionate about fatherhood and discussed his role as a dad in an appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show” in August. He spoke about how he approaches conversations with his teenagers, and how they’re more likely to open up to him because of the change he made.

“I’ve had to be almost less of a dad in ways — be less judgmental when they’re saying something,” McConaughey said. “Then, they keep sharing that stuff. And I’d rather know and not judge right now, than not know and wonder what the hell I’m supposed to judge about on some things.”
