Jennifer Lopez Offers a Look at How She Covered Her Ben Affleck Tattoo — PHOTOS

While Jennifer Lopez‘s marriage to Ben Affleck didn’t last, the tattoo she got when they were together was a little more permanent. Although she could have had the ink lasered off or simply kept it as a reminder of what once was, she instead decided to have it slightly covered up and altered.

“Though there has been speculation of a removal for some time, the design is very much intact — with some changes,” according to Page Six.

Jennifer No Longer Has Ben’s Name Tattooed on Her Side

In an Instagram post that shared a look at how Lopez spent the Memorial Day holiday, fans could see the star relaxing the shade and spending time in a pool, as well as enjoying a meal with friends and family.

What her followers might not have noticed is that “[t]he ‘On the Floor’ singer, 56, subtly revealed that she no longer has her ex-husband’s name tattooed on her side,” People noted.

“In her eleventh slide, J.Lo hugged her son Maximilian ‘Max’ Muñiz, 18,” per People. “The mother of two shares him and his twin, Emme Muñiz, with her ex-husband Marc Anthony, whose real name is Marco Antonio Muñiz.”

Due to the fact that “the Selena star wore a floor-length, flowy dress with a low-cut back,” People points out that her outfit exposed “an altered version of a tattoo she previously debuted in 2023 during her marriage to Ben Affleck, 53.”

Lopez first showed off the body art dedicated to her relationship with Affleck in a (now-deleted) February 2023 Instagram post that marked their first Valentine’s Day as husband and wife.

“Commitment ♾️ Happy Valentine’s Day my love 🤍,” she wrote in the caption of her post. She added, “#CommitmentIsSexy #ThisIsUsThen #ThisIsUsNow #ThisIsMeNow.”

People explains that “[t]he tattoo had an infinity sign with the names ‘Jennifer’ and ‘Ben’ written in cursive. An arrow also goes through the middle of the symbol, which sits above her ribcage.” As for the current status of Lopez’s tattoo, “her name in cursive was still visible, but Affleck’s appeared to be covered.”

That’s not to forget about the fact that, at the same time, Affleck got a tattoo dedicated to Lopez, which People mentions featured “two arrows crossing one another. The letter ‘J’ was above the crossed arrows while the letter ‘B’ was below. It is unclear if he still has the artwork.”

Stars Who Have Gotten Tattoos for their Partners

Getting a tattoo dedicated to a partner can be a rather risky move; however, that doesn’t stop people from getting body art that’s meant to represent a bond with a special someone. For instance, there are quite a few stars who have relationship-related ink.

“There is no denying that celebrities have a penchant for inking their love for their significant others on their bodies,” according to Vogue Australia. “While some couples do so in the early stages of their relationship, like Ashley Benson and Cara Delevingne, others get tattoos to celebrate anniversaries and various love-related milestones, like David and Victoria Beckham.”

Vogue Australia adds that “[i]t’s important to note that it isn’t always a wise idea to make such a permanent declaration, as not all love lasts the test of time.” Want an example? Well, during “their whirlwind six-month relationship, Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande amassed around 13 couple tattoos between them, many of which they have had covered up following their split.”

As for other celebs who have taken the permanent tat plunge for their partners, Travis Barker has tattoos for (and at least one done by) Kourtney Kardashian. Justin and Hailey Bieber have body art dedicated to each other, as do Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, as well as Beyoncé and Jay-Z.
